Essential oils have a very complex composition: gas chromatography shows that they contain hun-dreds of active principles and this explains the numerous thera-peutic properties that each essence offers if extracted with tradi-tional techniques in use for thousands of years. Plants naturally produce essential oils and these have numerous functions: they allow plants to communicate with each other and with their en-vironment, they attract insects, give protection from at-tack and can even alter the micro-climate. Extracted using traditional techniques they retain all their strength and vitality, which we can then suc-cessfully use for our well-being. Aromatherapy embraces chemistry, botany, aesthetics, psy-chology, neurophysiology, ethology and biolo-gy. From the stone age through to the future world of nanotechnology, perfume has been an indispensable companion over the course of human history. A world without aromas would be an empty world. Perfumes, essences and smells create a world as magic as it is real. It is the new frontier in well-being, for the mind, of course but also and above all for the body. The principle is an ancient one but it is now being re-discovered: healing with aromas, with the perfumed essences of flowers and plants, which give an incomparable sense of relaxation and offer the gift of a smile while purifying the air. Quality: the golden rulesThe quality of an essential oil depends on a range of factors: the extraction method (the technique used to extract the oil from the plant, usually steam distillation or cold pressing), the precise identification of the plant of origin (botanical classification and part of the plant used) purity (100% natural with no added syn-thetic substances), chemotype (the same botanical variety may yield very different essential oils and indication of the chemo-type is the only way of knowing what the characteristic mole-cules are and hence of explaining the various effects), integrity and analysis (the most important controls for guaranteeing qual-ity).BlendsThe art of blending essential oils is an ancient one and has been jealously handed down by practitioners of the art. Synergy is a very important mechanism; while the individual essential oils al-ready have their particular properties, putting together different

The interaction of particular essences gives the blend properties which could not be achieved with the individual components.The Okbaby range includes 6 different blends formulated with the purest essential oils acting together in harmony. The blends must always be diluted with water before nebulisation and should be

used only with Okbaby ultrasound diffusers.The instructions for use are specified in the leaflet

provided with each essence.

There are different blends for different ages: 0-24 months and 25-60 months. The blends are also excellent for adults.

“DOLCE SONNO” BLEND: RELAXING EFFECTA fragrance with a deliciously fruity aroma and a decidedly calm-ing effect. Ideal companion to the sleep of small children. Per-fect for alleviating tension, its gentle notes emanate protection and security. It conveys a beneficial message of balance and har-mony.

“DOLCE SOLLIEVO” BLEND: INSECT-REPELLENT EFFECTThese blends have been developed with the aim of protect-ing even very small children from mosquitoes, gnats and flies through simple ambient diffusion. Insects are particularly sensitive to the fragrance molecules since they essentially communicate through chemical messages. Some plants produce fragrances which attract them, so as to involve them in pollination, while others produce fragrances which repel them, thanks to insect-repellent and insecticide essential oils ca-pable of upsetting their nervous systems or enzymatic processes.
