AirWaves is a very special Catalina 42MKII. She was ordered new at the October, 2005Annapolis Boat Show by her first and only owners. Catalina Yachts' CEO, Frank Butler knew thecouple well, as this was to be the 5th Catalina (22, 25, 34 36 and now 42) he sold them.

Frank agreed to build the boat as Hull# 1065 to reflect the frequency of the owner's first FMradio station in Kalamazoo, MI. It was the first and only time in Catalina's history a boat wasbuilt out of sequence.

AirWaves was built in Catalina's Woodland Hills, CA plant and delivered to Sail Place, Catalina'soldest continuously owned dealer, in February, 2006 on the shores of Lake Michigan inWaukegan, IL.

Ferd Nimphus, an MIT grad and Sail Place engineer, was engaged to customize the boat for itsowners. His craftsmanship continued for 2 months of full time work. The boat was launched inApril, 2006 and sailed across Lake Michigan to its home port in Saugatuck, MI.

The owners lived aboard full time that year and sailed 3 of the 5 Great Lakes until hauling theboat in November for the winter. In the Spring of 2007, she was decommissioned, put on aspecialized boat trailer, and shipped to Cap Sante Marine in Anacortes, WA where she was re-commissioned. The owners again lived aboard full time until December, 2008 when theybought a home in Friday Harbor.

AirWaves is moored in Roche Harbor, San Juan Island. She is in Bristol condition and ready forher next owner to enjoy.

AirWaves is generally considered by everyone who has seen her to be the very best example ofthe Catalina 42 sailing yacht. She's a prime example of providing luxury live-aboardaccommodations in 42 feet! Over 1000 have been built and, at Hull# 1065, AirWaves is thehighest Hull number of the Catalina 42 series. There is an active Catalina 42 Association.They have a website and offer a wealth of information including "tech specs" and anopportunity to share ideas with its 350+ members.

AirWaves has never been chartered. The owners are the only ones who have ever used her inany capacity.
