It maintainsengine performance, efficiency anddurability while dramatically reducingemissions.The Cat C7 is a 7.2 L displacement, 6-cylinder, electronically governed engine.Electronic fuel injection is provided throughthe well-proven Caterpillar hydraulicallyactuated, electronically controlled unitinjection (HEUI) system. A wastegateturbocharger, equipped with a titaniumwheel for improved durability, combinedwith air-to-air aftercooling (ATAAC)provides consistent high horsepower withincreased altitude capability.Optimum power. The engine performs at afull-rated gross power of 168 kW (228 hp)at 2200 rpm. Engine power curve isoptimized for milling applications providingoptimum power while keeping the engineoperating at peak efficiency.

    The ADEM A4 electronic controlmodule. This module manages fueldelivery, valve timing and airflow forefficient performance per liter of fuelused. The control module providesflexible fuel mapping, allowing theengine to respond quickly to varyingapplication needs. It keeps track ofengine and machine conditions whilekeeping the engine operating at peakefficiency.Engine Block and Pistons. The grey cast iron engine block is made of thesame material as the cylinder heads.Wall diameters are thicker than inprevious designs while adjustmentshave been made to reduce soundlevels and increase rigidity. One-pieceall-steel pistons are housed within awet, replaceable cast iron cylinderliner constructed of high-strength,heat-treated castings. Steel-forgedconnecting rods are larger in diameter.Easier service, maintenance andrepair through monitoring keyfunctions and logging criticalindicators. Advanced electronicdiagnostic capabilities are possibleusing Cat Electronic Technician.

    High cylinder pressures. High cylinderpressures combined with tightlycontrolled tolerances promoteextremely efficient fuel burn, less blowby and lower emissions. Hydraulically Actuated Electronic Unit Injectors (HEUI). The HEUIsystem has been at work in Cat enginesacross the product line with a proventrack record of consistent, durable,reliable performance.Precise multiple injection fueldelivery.     Mechanical dry clutch. The rotor drive consists of trapezoidpulleys, molded high-strength belt and a hydraulic-coupling dry clutch. The field-proven drive system delivers reliabilityand long service life.Drive train protection. A drive train protection device protectsrotor drive system, rotor and tools by instantly disengagingrotor drive whenever an abrupt drop in rotor rpm occurs.Two cutting speeds. Upper and lower pulleys are easilyinterchangeable for maximum torque with the toughestmaterials and different material sizing requirements.Molded six-rib high tensile belt. A fast, effortless and reliable toolremoval is provided by the quick-release conical tool holderstool removing system.Large replaceable carbide faced loading paddles. The hydraulicallyoperated anti-slab device prevents slabbing of the roadsurface, provides optimum material sizing and gradation,protects the collecting conveyor and ensures an optimumdischarge opening to the rotor chamber.Variable belt speed. The collecting conveyor, driven by ahigh torque hydraulic motor for maximum efficiency, featuresvariable belt speed for optimum production in all applications.Reversible belt rotation control is also provided.Optimum dust reduction.     Front Loading ConveyorFolding loading conveyor simplifies machine transportation.High capacity and versatility adds to productivity.

    Folding conveyor. Machine transportation is made easier by the folding front conveyor that reduces the machinedimensions. 600 mm wide loading conveyor. Height adjustment is hydraulically controlled and two cylinders provide a 41 degree swing to the left and right.Variable loading belt speed and reversible rotation.The front loading conveyor also includes variable belt speed and reversible belt rotation control. The loading belt speed is infinitely variable and provides optimumdischarge capability for uniformly loading the haul truck.Simplified conveyor removal. Quick-fitting hydraulics andmechanical conveyor components allow the front conveyor to be easily detached from the machine.

    Ergonomic operators station. The full-width operatorsstation provides a view of the front loading conveyor and side plates for precise and rapid positioning.Seat. Durable suspension seat and armrest on both sidesprovides optimum operator comfort.Warning horns and shut-down buttons. Located on theoperators station and at ground level control stations.Hydraulically operated canopy option. Full-widthcanopy with two extending side wings and frontwindshield and rear window provides optimum comfort and protection. Canopy can be hydraulicallylowered during transportation.Operating controls. The distribution and clearinstrumentation layout on the main and sidearm console control panels have been designed to ensureminimum operator effort and maximum automation. All gauges and displays are easily visible even in direct sunlight.Graphic display. A large display, easily visible in directsunlight, provides operating parameters for machine and engine diagnostics.     Steering Right Rear TrackOptimum machine handling for precise control and production.

    Flush cutting. The right rear track can be swung in within the machines cutting width for full flush cutting applications.With the right rear track swung in the machine can cut closeto a wall, barrier or other vertical obstruction.Exclusive Caterpillar single-piece swing-arm design.The swing-in arm mechanism ensures increased rigidityeliminating excessive track wear for increased component life.Automatic control. The rear track swing-in system isautomatic and controlled from the operators station. The operator is not required to leave his seat whilepositioning the right rear track within the machines cutting width.

    Precise control. A microprocessor electronically controls the steering angle of the right rear track. The rear tracksteering angle is automatically adjusted in relation to the position of the front tracks.Enhanced steering ability. The machines rear track steeringfeature facilitates operation in confined areas and ensures aclose cut around roundabouts or turns. The right rear tracksteers in both positions, whether positioned within or outsidethe cutting width.

    PM102 - Wheel Undercarriage High travel speed reduces machine repositioning times.

    Total traction. The hydrostatic transmission on all four wheels, viaa flow divider, and self levelling front axle ensure positive tractionand optimum performance in all applications. Optimum maneuverability. The large, wide tread tyres provideoptimum maneuverability on tight curves and traction whendriving in and out of the trench.High travel speed. The high travel speed of the PM102 reducesrepositioning times and machine transfer on the jobsite.Flush cutting.     Wire (yo-yo) contacting grade sensors. Wire grade sensormeasures side plate movement that enables the entire length of the side plate to become an averaging device for accurategrade matching.
