Background and challengesUnlike regular solar panels, the benchmarking of

integrated panels is a complex undertaking in which

a large number of parameters need to be taken into

have different specifications, the collected data is very

diverse.

• Measurements are conducted every second of the

CUSTOM-MADE SOFTWARE APPLICATION EXCELS IN FLEXIBILITY AND SECURITY

At the Solar Energy Application Center (SEAC), an independent knowledge institute based in Eindhoven (the Netherlands), integrated solar roof panels are tested. As the solar panels are integrated and not only placed on top of your roof they offer – in addition to turning solar power into electricity – other key benefits, such as keeping roofs watertight or soundproof. To ensure their high quality, SEAC measures numerous test parameters with the aid of approximately 500 sensors. A custom-made software application developed by Test & Measurement Solutions (T&M Solutions) makes the huge amounts of acquired data easily — and securely — accessible, both on- and off-site.

The T&M solutionTo tackle the above challenges, T&M Solutions developed a

custom-made database that processes the collected data every

night.

This information is then made accessible to SEAC researchers in

a secure and flexible way.

At the user’s request, data is processed on the server and only

the results — in the form of figures and graphs — are viewable.

ResultsThe database tool provided by T&M Solutions plays a pivotal

role in SEAC’s data acquisition and retrieval process. Within

the space of a single night, the powerful solution is able to

process huge amounts of data. The additional tools supplied by

T&M Solutions make simple analysis a walk in the park through

clear graphs and infographics. Furthermore, the database has

been created in such a way that it can be easily expanded and

adapted by the client, as and when needed.
