The current public transport route network in kathmandu valley is approximately 2000 routes as follows:Bus, seven routes prior to reintroduction of sajha yatayat.which 2 more routes.sajha yatayat runs two services kalanki to CBD to airport and satdobato to CBD TO Maharajgunj and newbuspark.Minibus,93 routes, minibus route run national highways and feeder roads in the valley.they are generally radile, linking outlayong areas with city center. microbus,73 routes the coverage of the micro bus network is similar to the network bus.Tempo,20 routes which are generally to within ringroad.

Page 15: case study on sajha bus service

As there are very few large buses in the current public transport network, sajhayatayat can input good quality larges buses to add value to the system.

As the primary routes have a demand of over 100000 passengers per day, these routes will be fesibles for the large buses that sajhayatayat want to import

As the current routes that are being served by sajhayatayat has significant passengers demand and the frequency of sajha buses is quite low,it would make sennse to add new buses to the current route so as to increase the bus frequency and demonstrate a model bus transit system.
