Weatherhead provides me with three big wins. Each of our associates has an individual development plan - the Affiliate Partnership gives our associates another resource to target that development. There is a lot of diversity in the curriculum – not just from a content perspective, but also the peer knowledge sharing that comes from being in the room with other successful organizations. And finally, I’ve always been impressed with the quality of learning that Weatherhead condenses into a one- or two-day session. The Affiliate Partnership consistently delivers a higher level of applicable learning than we’ve experienced in similar formats.

Leadership Development Through Emotional IntelligenceSuccess takes more than great ideas, vision, or strategy. great leaders inspire and move us through the power of our emotions. Research has shown that exceptional leaders, executives and managers are not just smart or lucky, but more frequently rely on their Emotional intelligence (Ei). Ei is the ability to understand, motivate and develop yourself and others. Fortunately, Ei competencies can be learned and change can be sustained. Under the direction of Dr. Richard Boyatzis, these high-impact learning experiences provide a comprehensive suite of Ei applications.

At the core of our skills and performance is our ability to learn. Today’s challenging global environment calls for multifaceted individuals who can acquire, create, and transfer new knowledge and adapt swiftly through periods of decline as well as prosperity. While both individuals and organizations are pressured to increase their learning capacity to maintain competitive advantage in tumultuous environments, no single course or program can provide individuals with all the skills and knowledge they will need for the rest of their careers. These programs will help you learn how to learn, understand your learning style, and share learning with others as a leader, team member, educator or development professional.

Q. what brought you to weatherhead executive education?

A. i wanted to pursue a deeper understanding and application of Emotional intelligence, a topic i knew little about. i recognized Richard Boyatzis as a leading authority in the field, and came to Weatherhead to learn from him and his colleagues.

Q. how would you describe your experience at weatherhead?

A. it was life changing, truly phenomenal. i had read the books and had a basic understanding, but the delivery and what the programs covered were perfect for me as a practitioner. The one day programs provided a great overview of the concepts, the competencies, and how and why people change. The Coaching for intentional Development workshop taught me how to put the concepts into practice to really help others develop and change.

Q. how did your experience at weatherhead compare to other places?

A. i’ve been to many conferences, seminars, and coaching certification programs, and anyone can tell you, i’m a hard judge. This course, was by far, the best i’ve ever had the privilege to experience. Both Richard Boyatzis and Melvin Smith were exceptional instructors and unlike anything i had ever experienced! When i have talked to my peers about this program, they’ve really sat up and listened. We have a lot of excitement building for sending more people through your executive programs. i never want to go anywhere else for my executive education!

“I’ve participated in a lot of management and leadership programs, and the “Getting the Best Results” program was easily one of the most transferable to my day-to-day activities. One of the most interesting components of the program was the peer-to-peer interaction. As a military member, I rarely get the opportunity to intermingle with people from such diverse industries and backgrounds. The peer learning I experienced was worth the time and investment by itself.”

Custom Solutions: Delivering Education in the Context of Your Organization

“Out of all the training I have attended in 20 years with Sherwin-Williams, I feel this will have the most long term effect on my career.”

Paul kowalik, Regional Sales Director, Chemical Coatings Division, speaking about a Weatherhead customized program delivered for The Sherwin-Williams Company

Weatherhead Coaching ServicesAre you interested in making a shift or change in your thinking or behavior or enhancing your capabilities as a leader in your work and life? Weatherhead offers executive coaching for individuals. We know from years of research conducted at the Weatherhead School that adults can develop competencies with intentional effort. We have both a process and a team of experienced executive coaches ready to help you make the shift from good to great.

our PhilosoPhYThe Weatherhead coaching process is based on the theory of intentional change developed by Richard Boyatzis at the Weatherhead School of Management. The premise upon which this is based is that adults change their behavior when they intend or want to change. The motivation and readiness to develop comes from within the individual, not from external sources. Weatherhead coaches help their clients identify the underlying motivations that guide their behavior and support them in making a plan for their own, individual development.

our PracticeWeatherhead Executive Coaching provides an opportunity for deep reflection, increased self-awareness and opportunities to develop your capability. Following the intentional Change Theory, executive coaches assist clients in their development journey first by exploring their ideal aspirations for their work and life, then by analyzing their current competencies, behaviors and learning style. Participants create a learning agenda or plan and work to implement the changes they seek with the coach serving as a guide and support.
