History• 1876 – Opening of state’s first civilian hospital named

Charlotte Home and Hospital

• 1982 - Tree of Life logo was introduced and has 9 branches which symbolize courage, wisdom, kindness, humility, gentleness, loyalty, prudence, generosity and justice

• 1990 – Hospital name changed to its current name as Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) after several name changes throughout its history
