Why go on a residential?
- More than just a fun
- Residential trips for schools are a key part of the national curriculum.
- Teachers can create experiences that enhance pupils’ classroom learning, adding opportunities pupils may not otherwise have, particularly in outdoor learning.
- Children have far more access to natural outdoor environments.
- To encourage children’s independence and a sense of personal responsibility.
- Builds children’s confidence and encourages them to work together.
What do we do?
On this trip children will experience:
- Camp cooking
- Independence
- Bug hunting
- Orienteering
- A camp fire
- Team building
- Shelter building
- Archery
Where do we sleep?
- We have our own school tent area.
- 6 children sleep in a tent together (boys and girls separately).
- Children are not allowed to go into each others’ tents.
- Staff will have their own tents which are positioned behind the children’s tents.
- We will ask children who they would like to share with before we go.
What do we eat?
- Breakfast – cooked, cereal and toast
- Lunch – packed lunches
- Dinner – a range of meals designed to appeal to children
- Supper – hot chocolate and biscuits
- Any special dietary requirements will be taken into consideration.
Which staff are coming?
- This very much depends which staff and TAs are working in Year 4.
- There will always be a member of the school senior leadership team on the trip.
- There will always be a mix of male and female staff.
- All adults on the trip will be members of school staff.
What do we need to take
with us?- Bedding
- Clothes you don’t mind getting a bit grubby
- 2 pairs of sensible shoes - wellies / trainers
- A towel and wash kit!!!
- A teddy
You don’t need:
- Electronic devises – no phones, cameras, etc.
- No food is required as the outdoor centre has many squirrels

- Costs - This 3 day, 2 night residential.
- Last year the prices were
- £99.90 if every child attended.
- £124.00 based on 70 children attending.
- £144.80 based on 60 children attending.- 2 nights full board accommodation
- Meals and drinks
- Coach travel
- A great range of team building and scientific activities.
- There will be a letter in the next few weeks explaining payment and dead lines.
