Construction: An Area of Priority • 214,000 construction job openings in July 2016 (U.S.
Bureau of Labor Statistics) • The construction industry is projected to add nearly 800,000
new jobs by 2024• 2016 Inflection Point report from the Allegheny
Conference on Community Development • 58,000 workers are employed in the Pittsburgh region’s
construction industry• The region is forecasted to have more than 5,400 annual
openings through 2025• Additional workforce spikes that will occur from the buildout
of the petrochemical and natural gas facilities developing in the region
