Mulgrave  Road  Pharmacy  offers  an  excellent  comprehensive  care  home  service  second  to  none.    Our  independent  pharmacy  is  located  in  the  heart  of  Cheam  with  a  dedicated,  close-­‐knit  pharmacy  team  who  are  committed  to  delivering  exceptional  patient  care.      

With  a  wealth  of  experience  in  working  with  care  homes  across  Cheam  and  other  parts  of  the  borough,  our  pharmacist  and  healthcare  team  are  available  to  offer  friendly  help  and   support   to  help  our  patients   receive   the  best  possible  medicines  management.   In  addition,  we   have   a   separate   dispensing   unit   solely   for   organizing   and   dispensing   our  care  home  prescriptions.  

 v Regular  Deliveries  

 

We  have   a   full   time   dedicated   driver  who  provides   an   emergency  medication   delivery  service.  This   service   is  available  Monday   to  Friday  and  by  special   request  on  Saturdays  also.   Any   emergency   medicine   requirements   requested   by   phone   or   fax   before   5pm  Monday  to  Friday  will  be  delivered  the  same  day  depending  upon  stock  availability.    

Additionally,  a  collection  service  is  available  all  year  round  from  our  pharmacy,  Monday-­‐Friday  9.00am  to  6.00pm  and  Saturday  9.00am  to  1.00pm.  

v Medication  Administration  Records  (MARs)    

We  will  provide  you  with  monthly  computer  generated  MAR  charts   for  each   individual  patient  along  with  a  file  in  order  for  you  to  keep  them.      

v Single  Use  Medicines  System  (SUMs)    

We  use  SUMs,  a   far  superior  system  as  opposed  to  Monitored  Dosage  Systems  (MDS)  supplied  by  Venalink.  Venalink  has  been  at  the  forefront  of  medication  management   in  nursing  and  care  home  facilities  since  1989.  This  system  boasts  a  number  of  advantages:    

ü Improved  safety:  SUMs  eliminates  the  risk  of  cross-­‐contamination,  which  is  generally  associated  with  MDS  systems  as  it  involves  generating  a  new  system  each  time.  

ü User  friendly  ü Simple,  lightweight  and  colour  coded  

 

v Medicines  Advice    

Our  Pharmacist  and  healthcare  team  are  available  to  provide  advice  whenever  needed.  The  pharmacist  will  be  more  than  happy  to  answer  any  queries  you  may  have  regarding  a  residents  medicines.

v Regular  Pharmacist  Visits

Our  Pharmacist   is  extremely  keen  to  maximise  the  benefits  patients  achieve  from  their  medicines   and   ensure   that   both   patients   and   the   care   homes   are   receiving   the   best  possible  service.  For  this  reason,  we  offer  a  service  whereby  the  Pharmacist  can  arrange  regular  meetings  with  the  care  home  manager  to  make  sure  that  they  are  pleased  with  our  service  and  to  voice  any  ideas  they  have  about  how  we  can  improve  our  service  to  them.    

v Information  Hotline Our  Pharmacist  and  healthcare  team  are  on  hand  to  help  with  any  queries  you  may  have  during  our  opening  hours.  There  will  always  be  someone  available  by  phone  to  give  you  medicines  advice.

v Information  Leaflets We  are  able  to  provide  information  leaflets  about  common  health  conditions,  medicines  and  advice  on  any  side  effects,  which  we  can  supply  to  you  on  request.  

v Training We  are  able  to  arrange  a  training  session  with  our  colleagues  at  Venalink  who  supply  us  with  our  SUMs  to  provide  information  and  training  on  the  use  of  their  system.  

     

For  us  to  be  able  to  provide  you  with  the  best  possible  service,  we  ask  that  in  return:    

v We  dispense  all  of  the  care  home’s  prescriptions    

v The   care   home   arranges   for   all   of   their   residents’   monthly   prescriptions   and   MARS  charts  to  be  with  us  in  a  timely  manner  in  order  for  us  to  ensure  that  we  can  provide  you  with  a  prompt  service.
