Introduction

The Psychoanalytic Association of Asuncion (APdeA), IPA Study Group, is a non-profit institution, which is part, since its establishment in September 2007, of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA).

Its objectives include psychoanalytic training, psychoanalysis studies, spreading of the psychoanalytical discipline and relationship with other IPA associations through scientific & cultural collaborations. Furthermore, there is cooperation and research with public and private educational centers, both locally and abroad.

We are currently a small association consisting of eleven members, eight of which are Direct Members and three are Associate Member. We also have a group of four graduated seminar candidates and eleven candidates attending classes at the moment.

For the first time we have requested and applied for CAPSA funds, which was suggested by Dra. Sara Zac, Dra. Elsa Aisenberg and Dra. Julia Braun from the Sponsoring Committee, who are permanently advising our Study Group.

This event was hosted by Dr. Luis Martín Cabré, Direct Member of the Psychoanalytic Association of Madrid (APM).

We would like to thank the Sponsoring Committee for all the help provided and also to everyone who sponsor the CAPSA funds, which allowed this event to take place in our country. We are especially grateful with Dr. Luis Martín Cabré, who willingly gave more of his time than what previously had been planned. He transmitted brilliantly theoretical concepts and thoroughly analyzed clinical experiences.

them and mainly in the rich exchange that took place between Dr. Martin Cabré and participants.

Impact and consequences for our institution and community

We believe this was an important step for the growth and strength of our institution, for our duty to train and spread psychoanalysis in our community. We have also achieved great impact on colleagues who sent letters thanking and congratulating for the event. We are very grateful that we had the opportunity to be benefited from CAPSA funds, it really was an enriching experience for the whole members of APDEA and also to involve the educational community and those devoted to mental health.

Recommendations for other societies based on our experience

Our institution is small but we have managed to work all together and the result is the achievement of such an enriching activity. It took several days of hard work but they were all very productive and stimulating for future activities. This is why we encourage other psychoanalytical institutions to embark upon this project, which will surely bring benefits both individually and institutionally as well.
