When it comes time to make your college decision, don’t ask yourself where you want to go—ask yourself who you want to be. Do you want to be a deep thinker, pushing the limits of classroom learning? Do you want to be active, involved and engaged in your academic community? Do you want to create something eye-opening and impactful, whether it’s on a concert stage or in a laboratory? Do you want to be a leader, an innovator and a pioneer? If you’ve answered “yes” to all of the above, you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to the University of Montevallo.

PUBLIC LIBERAL ARTS EDUCATION

The University of Montevallo is Alabama’s only public liberal arts university—in fact, we were one of the first in the country. That means you’ll be getting a quality liberal arts education without paying private school prices.

The Becoming sculpture across from Bowers Colonnade was designed by UM

professor Ted Metz in 2001. About 40 students assisted Metz in casting the

sixteen-foot hands out of 5,000 pounds of bronze. The sculpture represents a student’s

potential for knowledge and growth, both academically and in character, as well as the support and guidance provided by professors.

College NightEvery school celebrates homecoming in one way or another. But not every school’s homecoming tradition is on display at the Library of Congress or featured as an answer on Jeopardy!®. On the first Friday of February school spirit is on display in full force through events, performances and competition. The only question is: are you a Purple, or are you a Gold?
