SITE SELECTION CRITERIA (Generic)

Initial Criteria (rank importance)

Philosophical / Mission Issues

Campus presence for students and visitors Does the project contribute to the campus in this site? Frame a view; create a new focal point, etc. Become a desirable campus destination, “A true place,” for users and the larger campus

community? Depending upon this facility type, these points may have varying importance

Site Envelope Issues

Can the proposed square footage fit on this site? (What are the programmatic square footages for building, parking, access, site, accessory structures or uses?)

Does the site provide opportunities for good civic (outdoor) spaces? Does the site provide potential for future facility expansion? (What are the potential future

expansion needs?) Does the site allow for sustainable design principles to be employed? Visibility

Adjacency Issues

To other related academic facilities To other University facilities Site allows for planned expansion of surrounding buildings/facilities Site has positive or minimal negative impact on non-University stakeholders Odor Issues Noise Issues Visible emissions, including water vapor

Compliance with officially adopted plans / Campus Planning Issues

University Park Campus Master Plan Source Water Protection Plan (Wellhead Protection) Water Resource Protection Areas University Planned District (UPD), District Plan or other applicable municipal regulations

(Zoning) Does the project make the best and most efficient use of the site?

Access Issues

Parking requirements Transit Pedestrian Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Service / Delivery (i.e. traffic, size, frequency, amount, significance, etc.) Ambulance/Emergency Vehicles Security (What are the security needs for the site (i.e. fencing, lighting, barriers, etc.) Public access

Timing Issues

Existing uses to move Existing structures to be demolished Utilities to be moved

Cost Issues

Site considerations Topography Utilities Existing Buildings to be demolished Funding tied to schedule Existing parking to be moved from surface lot to parking deck

Infrastructure Required

Source Water Protection Plan (Wellhead Protection) Water Sanitary Stormwater Electric Steam Chilled Water Telecom Gas

Other Unique Considerations

To be determined by specific program
