Our summer camp empowers camp-ers to develop independence, self-es-teem, and life-long friendships. Owned and operated by the RC Bishop of Springfield for over 85 years, our summer camp provides the campers with a variety of activ-ities ranging from Creative Arts, Sports, Outdoor Adventure, Faith and Waterfront Activities.

THE SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCEA wide range of activities encourage campers to pursue new interests, culti-vate friendships and develop strengths. Campers thrive as they develop fitness and sports skills, enjoy the waterfront, and pursue choice-based arts, adven-ture, faith and athletics activities.

Fr. Chris Malatesta and Justin Brown are the Directors of Holy Cross Campgrounds. Fr. David Aufiero is the Chaplain of the Summer Camp Sessions. They are assisted by a mature staff of teachers and high school & college stu-dents who provide a creative camping program designed to meet the individual needs of each camper. Our enthusiastic staff supervise the campers in their living quarters and motivate them as they proceed through our fun-filled program. The campers are grouped by division of age. A strong emphasis is placed on safety. Our staff’s goal is to make a young camper feel more secure, and encourage trust and con-fidence while providing a rewarding summer camp experience.

SUMMER CAMP LEADERSHIPAll camp staff members understand the importance of the role they play in their camper’s lives, and approach their jobs responsibly and with caring hearts. Activity specialists share expertise in their skill areas and help to make electives challenging and fun.

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING CAMPCampers Ages 14 & 15 will learn the skills necessary to be a successful camp counselor. They will learn from seasoned counselors everything from how to manage a cabin com-munity, to planning and implementing success-ful camp activities. They will have classroom sessions, projects and on the job training opportunities. As part of this program, they will learn American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Skills The students day will include par-ticipating in camp meals, recreation, waterfront and free time. This program runs in concert with our regular youth program. Participation in this program does not guarantee the opportu-nity for future employment at our camp.
