Something else this season that we I praise God for is the confirmation of our youth. Every Year towards the end of May, we confirm those youth who have com- pleted the classes and pro- fess a faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord. In Confirmation Class our youth learn about God and confirm the faith that was begun at their baptism. One thing that I stress in class is that head knowledge is not our goal, but heart knowledge is. We study and memorize a lot of information in class, but knowing all of these facts is not our goal. The goal of class is to enrich our faith in Jesus Christ with Scriptures and solid theology that will last us all of our life. We learn what the ApostlesCreed means and what the different petitions in the Lords Prayer communicate. But we do not learn them so that we can pass a test, we learn them to enrich our faith and equip us against Satans fiery darts. G. H. Gerberding says in The Lutheran Pastor (the timeless manual he wrote for Lutheran pastors) that in spiritual matters the enlightening or instructing of the intellect is not the end aimed at, but on- ly the means to an end. The end aimed at must always be the renewal of the heart; the heart must be reached through the understanding. On Sunday, May 19 th , we will be confirming Tanaya Weiss during our worship service. We have equipped her, she has studied hard, and now it is her turn to confirm the faith that God has placed in her. Please pray for Tanaya as she completes her studies and continue to be in pray for all of our confirmands (Angel Henry, Trapper Miklos, Hunter Myers, Greysen St. John). And as always, who loves you? God loves you, and I love you. And its a privilege to be your pastor. God bless you! Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord! Every Year towards the end of May, we confirm those youth who have com-pleted the classes and pro-fess a faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord. In Confirmation Class our youth learn about God and confirm the faith that was begun at their baptism. One thing that I stress in class is that head knowledge is not our goal, but heart knowledge is. The goal of class is to enrich our faith in Jesus Christ with Scriptures and solid theology that will last us all of our life. We learn what the Apostles’ Creed means and what the different petitions in the Lord’s Prayer communicate. But we do not learn them so that we can pass a test, we learn them to enrich our faith and equip us against Satan’s fiery darts. G. H. CARDS "SPREADING SEEDS OF CHEER"

I briefly spoke at the last WMF Ladies Night Out meeting regard-ing the process of purchasing the cards that are in the Fellowship Hall. Afterwards, I was asked to write up a small article in the catchall for anyone who may not have been there and who may not know how the process works. First of all, yes these cards and napkins are available for sale. (The boxed cards and napkins would actually make really nice gifts!) There is a section of individual cards on the left side of the display which can be purchased. An individual card is $0.75 each. The remaining display is full of boxed cards. The boxes of cards have prices marked on them. We ask that you purchase the whole box. There are also napkins available for sale which are lo-cated on the side of the display which are priced accordingly. There is a clear plastic pouch that you can place your money in which is behind the sign on the far right side on the display. If you have any ques-tions I would be happy to help you and walk you through the process. Each card has scripture. How great is it that we can spread some "Seeds of the Gospel" by just sending a card? With graduation coming up, it would be a great idea to send a graduate a card with God's Word in it and not just money, right? Or, how about letting someone know that you're thinking of them? Or, maybe just sending someone a card of encouragement, or letting them know you're praying for them? Let's be honest...MOST everyone loves getting birthday and anniversary cards! (wink) We also have cards for New Baby, Sympathy, Get Well, Congratulations, Wedding, Confirmation, Thank You, Friendship, All Occasion, and Seasonal such as Easter, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, and Christ-mas. If you need a card, come check it out. I encourage each of you to look through the cards and send some "Cheer" every once in a while. It not only blesses the person receiving it, but it also blesses YOU! I want to thank Joan Groon for all the many years she has taken care of supplying our church with the beautiful cards and napkins! Joan, thank you for always making sure we were always taken care of! Thank you for ALL that you do for us, always!

Spread some CHEER all through the year!

First off I’d like to thank you for the prayers, visits, gifts and cards after the devastat-ing fall I took the 2nd of April. I’m not yet quite over it but am thankful that I have no rec-ollection of the fall or for two-three days after. It is good to be home again but I am grateful for the kind care I had in hospitals and Care Center. Two new novels are “True Devotion,” and “True Valor,” by Dee Henderson. The first is a Navy Seal story which starts with Lifeguard Kelly Jacobs about to drown. Navy Seal Lt.

Joe “Bear” Baker plucks Kelly from the raging sea when she has nearly given up hope. In “True Valor” Lt. Grace Yates spent her deployment catapulting off the deck of an F/A-18 Hornet. Major Bruce “Striker” Stanton, Air Force Pararescue Jumper, had been pulling pilots from behind enemy lines for 12 years. He knew Grace was on the front fine and if she got in trouble, his unit would get the call. Two romantic thrillers.

..a verse we all could use: “Jesus loves me when I’m good, and I do the things I should. Jesus loves me when I’m bad, though it makes Him very sad.” Navy Seal Motto: The only easy day was yesterday. Wm Arthur Ward: Obedience to our heavenly Father starts with our loving service to a needy brother. Max Lucado: God loves you just the way you are, but he refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be just like Jesus. Thomas Jefferson: The Bible is like a compass--always points the believer in the right direction. C.S. Lewis: No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear. I am not afraid, but the sensation is like being afraid. The same fluttering in the stomach, the same restlessness, the yawning, I keep swallowing. Anonymous: Prayer doesn’t necessarily change things for you, but it changes you for things. “Called,” by Lisa Jefferson and Felicia Middlebrooks is the story of Lisa on 9-11-2001who was the supervisor who spoke with Todd Beamer during the final minutes of United Airlines flight 93. She prayed with Todd, then listened as he and the other heroes on that flight stood up to the terrorists controlling their airplane. Lisa writes: When I was going through counseling with my pastor, one of the things he said to me that really left an impres-sion is that God is more concerned about our availability than He is our ability. He grants us skills and talents, to be sure. But what God wants most of all--what he wanted from Jacob, from Joseph, from Moses, from Samuel, from David, from Esther, what He wanted from Mary the mother of Jesus, and Martha and Paul and Peter and so many more - what He wants is for us to say, “Lord, here I am--I’m ready!” “In Capable Arms,” by Sarah Kovac is new to the library. When National media ran a story about the disabled new mother who cared fro her baby with her feet, it went viral. Suddenly, Sarah Kovac--and her struggles with a rare congenital birth defect--became an inspiration to millions. Using her feet as others use their hands, Sarah lives a fill life as a wife and mother, as well as an author, speaker, and encourager. But as impressive as Sarah’s daily life is, her journey to overcome the emotional and spiritual challenges she faced, makes her story our story. “Imagine Heaven,” by John Burke is full of near death experiences, God’s promises and the Exhilarating Fu-ture That Awaits You. The Forward is by Don Piper, the author of “90 Minutes in Heaven.” “Small Change” by J. Belinda Yandell, is the story of the secret life of Penny Burford. This is a thin book with a great big heart and one you may wish to read again every Christmas. Pray about everything. Tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers. If God had intend-ed that there be even one area of your life that you keep for yourself and away from Him, He would never have said, “Casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7). Pray about everything so it will go God’s way, so we’re living in the center of His will, and so that His will might be accomplished on earth as it is in heaven. Ferne Liebsch 5-19
