Remember, you have an influence over you environment that surrounds you and affects your

health everyday. Here are just a few ideas to get you started.

Species Extinction Each species has a valuable role in our planet. But it’s a careful balance and if one species dies it can have a terrible effect on the rest of our environment. For example in the case of bees,

their dwindling population and the reduction in pollination can have serious consequences for people and animals and the environment. What can we do to combat this?

Dead Zones in our Oceans Dead Zones in our Oceans are areas where low oxygen levels cause fish and other marine life

to die. They are caused by very high levels of chemicals in the water. Why should be concerned about this and how do you think that these dead zones could be reversed?

Population GrowthDon’t we always say ‘the more the merrier’? The world population hit a huge seven billion people in 2011. And while we would like to welcome each new addition to our family, we

want to make sure that the earth’s resources aren’t overwhelmed. The Environment and Health

The damage done to our natural environment can impact directly on our health. Think of how the environment can lead to rises in obesity, diabetes, heart and lung disease, cancer, reproduction and mental health illnesses. What can you do to keep yourself healthy?

Carbon FootprintRemember, we all have an effect on the environment in ways we don’t even think about just by going about our daily routine. Think of how you heat your home, how you get to school, and what you use to pack your lunch. How does this impact on your surroundings and what

can you do to reduce it?
