My name is Joy Bliss and I am the Immediate Past President of Los Angeles County

Federation of Republican Women. I am nominated for the office of CFRW Southern Division

Second Vice President, Membership Promotion. During the last year of my term as President of

LACFRW I was fortunate enough to be elected Alternate Delegate for Mitt Romney and

attended the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL. I have also served as Los Angeles

County Second Vice President for the 2009-2010 term. I have experience, knowledge and

enthusiasm to bring to this position and would be proud to be elected.

When I found South Bay Republican Women Federated, I jumped in with both feet.

Their members are intelligent, warm and friendly, and a whole lot of fun. Because I had one of

the first primitive digital cameras (it took 3” floppies) I was asked to be on the board as club

photographer. I have been serving on the board ever since doing whatever I could to make our

club and our candidates successful. I was 1st. Vice President from 2002 to 2005 and was

President of South Bay RWF 2006, 2007 and 2008. South Bay RWF’s president during those

years was unable to represent our club at the upper levels of the Federation so I attended all

LACFRW meetings, CFRW Southern Division meetings and all CFRW Conferences and

Conventions. And I have attended all NFRW Conventions since I first joined the organization. I

have also done the club’s Surfwriter newsletter. I am now the Web and Facebook Manager for

my Club, so I am computer friendly. My club recently celebrated their 75th Diamond

Anniversary and we are a Diamond Award club. I am very proud to be a member.

My husband retired as a Captain on the Hawthorne Fire Department after 35 years. We

have two grown children. Our son is a Captain for Redondo Beach Fire Department with one

daughter studying at University of Nebraska for her PHD Degree, and our daughter teaches

Oceanography and Science at West High School in Torrance. She has two daughters graduated

from University and our grandson is a graduate of Cal State Dominguez Hills. I was a stay at

home Mom involved in P.T.A., Little League, Scouts and Job’s Daughters. I enjoy playing in my

church’s handbell choir. Always a Republican, I first became involved in the campaign for

Goldwater. I worked at the polls for twenty years.

I was born, raised, and educated in Germany, where I also met and married my husband, Jerry, then an enlisted court reporter in the U.S. Army and later an officer in the JAG Corps - almost 38 years ago. My husband served 24 years on active duty, before retiring, and I can say with pride that I served 21 years, too, as a stay-at-home Army wife and then stay-at-home mom until our son started Kindergarten. We had the opportunity to be assigned in Europe for the majority of our time with the Army and two years in the Far East, living in, visiting, and experiencing many diverse cultures. We also had two Stateside Army tours; one on the East Coast and another in the Midwest. I'm lucky to have lived and traveled around the world and throughout the United States. After my son started school, I re-entered the work force. It is especially critical for Army families to have two incomes, as our soldiers are woefully underpaid for their service to this country. After two part-time jobs, I entered the banking field, working my way up the ladder (which was no small feat given our having to move every three to five years as part of my husband's military career) culminating in my holding the third highest position in the military banking system in South Korea and Japan. During this time, I also made my American citizenship. To raise my right hand and take the oath of American citizenship in 1983 was, and continues to be, a proud achievement in my life. During our time in the military, I was very involved with the Officers Wives Club and the JAG Officers Wives Club in each city in which we were assigned. We raised funds for national and local charitable organizations and scholarships for children of military families. The funds we raised were always 100% donated to charities and scholarships. Upon my husbands retirement from military service in 1996, we moved to Southern California (where my husband was born and raised) and I again became a stay-at-home wife. To continue to give back to my country and the city in which I live, I joined several organizations (among them the RWF and the local women's shelter) and have been involved with fundraising for these organizations for many years. I am the immediate past-President of the Corona Norco RWF, and while President, I directed, organized, and hosted many successful fundraisers for our club, and continue to be involved in our on-going fundraisers, as my time permits. I believe my experience provides me unique qualifications that I can bring to bear in fundraising efforts for the CFRW-SD. With this in mind, I recognize that fundraising for the CFRW-SD will be a challenge and I look forward, with pleasure, to meeting this challenge. Thank you for your consideration. I am, Sincerely, Stephani Hashimura Sergeant at Arms CFRW Sergeant at Arms CFRW-SD immediate Past President, Corona Norco RWF

I am running for the position of Recording Secretary of the California Federation of Republican Women, Southern Division and feel that I am very qualified because of my involvement in Republican Politics.

I was born into a Republican family in 1944 and have remained a Republican all my life. My first introduction in politics was in my senior year of high school when I joined an anti-communist organization. My mother belonged to the Encino Republican Women’s Club, but I don’t know if it was a member of NFRW, so I heard about politics all the time from my parent’s discussions. I belonged to the Young Americans for Freedom and the Los Angeles Young Republicans during my college years at Pierce College and the University of Southern California. From 1962+ I worked on many local Republican campaigns in the San Fernando Valley walking precincts and manning the campaign headquarters. I also attended the National Republican Convention in 1964 in San Francisco even though I was only 20 years old and unable to vote. I was a Goldwater Girl and traveled there to help the Los Angeles Young Republicans with their newsletter during the convention.

Immediately after we moved to our new home in Thousand Oaks (1972) I became involved in local politics and have worked every two years on a Republican candidate’s city council campaign since 1974. I first joined a CFRW Club in 1976 but was unable to attend their lunch meetings as I had two small children who were not yet in school. I did help during campaigns and the absentee voter lists became my job in every city election. Along with local elections I have worked on many National and State elections, usually making telephone calls, walking precincts and attending fund raising events.

I am past president of the Conejo Valley RWF and currently president of the Westlake Village RWF after serving two terms as their Treasurer. I am the NFRW Service Charge Chairman for CFRW and was elected the Chairman of the CFRW Nominating Committee at the CFRW Fall Conference earlier this year. I am also a member of the NFRW Americanism Committee along with being a Regent and presently I am the Caring for America Awards Chairman for CFRW, Southern Division.

I was president of the Ventura County Federation of Republican Women for four years and prior to that I was First Vice president and I am currently the Treasurer. I have been on the City of Thousand Oaks Planning Commission for the last 9 years and just finished serving as chairman of the Commission. I was also on the Ventura County Planning Commission for 8 years. I am very involved in my own community and belong to several service clubs, City of Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley Unified School District Committees.

I would appreciate your vote for Recording Secretary, CFRW Southern Division.
