we also made sure we translate all articles into Arabic for those who prefer to read in their native language.

slow BusiNess. everyone is either being effected by this economy or afraid he or she will be affected. You could be an employed and worried about loosing your job or a businessman or businesswoman who already feels the slow economy and trying to cut back on expenses.

This also took a toll on us as well and has resulted in slower advertising income to our magazine. However, since we have

been in this business for a long time, we have enough clients and cushion to continue serving you and provide you with this magazine.

on the other hand, we still need advertising dollar to continue our growth and provide you with even a better magazine. we hope you would realize that the best way to beat this economy is by becoming aggressive on marketing not cutting down to the point you might hurt your business. eVeRY woman wishes to keep her face youthful

and spends a great deal of time, effort, and money to keep the young, taunt glowing skin. it is a fact of life that the aging process does take a toll on our face. Many anti-aging creams do keep the wrinkles at bay but how about the sagging skin? Many turn to the expensive, risky solution of going under the knife and have a face lift.

even though a face lift might bring back some of your youth back into your face, if it is done correctly and does not distort your face, the muscles in the face will need upkeep. like the body to keep it in shape and toned exercise and diet is a must the face is full of muscles and face fitness is an alternative to a face lift, not to mention less painful. As we get older the muscles in our face begin to elongate (stretch). of course mainly our muscles shape our skin so as they begin to stretch out skin begins to sag. This is the type of action face toning exercise can reverse. it only involves a few minutes of our time on a day-to-day basis, and it could be done while we are driving and waiting for the red light to turn green, while watching TV, or while putting on our face creams in the morning or at night. The following are sample face toning exercises that are taken from face-exercise-and-face-lifts.com.

eye face toning exercise: sitting up straight with your eyes closed and relaxed. while keeping your eyes closed, lift your eyebrows and stretching your eyelids down as far as possible. Hold this for a count of 5, release the position and relax. Repeat 5 times.

Cheek face toning exercise: Make a relaxed smile while keeping your lips closed. suck in your cheeks towards your teeth, touching them if possible. Hold the position and count to 10. Relax for a moment, and repeat 10 times.

Forehead face toning exercise: Again sitting

up straight, bring your eyebrows down over your eyes. At the same time wrinkle your nose upward while flaring your nostrils. Hold this position and count to 10. Relax, and repeat the process 5 times.

Beginning a facial exercise program to sculpt and contour the face may seem daunting at first because the movements and positioning feel somewhat awkward. Facial exercise, once you become familiar with the movements, you will marvel that these simple steps can easily produce a younger looking face.

You will want to take beginning photos before you start a facial exercise regimen so that you can track your progress and you will want to update your photos at the end of every third week.

in hardly any time at all, you will notice how smooth and refreshed your skin looks; your face glows with radiance from increased oxygenation to the muscles and those sagging, droopy muscles are now portraying a more youthful looking you. without surgery, drugs or anything harmful you can turn back the clock and look at least 10-15 years younger.

كل إمرأة تتمنى ان تبقي على نضارة وجهها وتقضي وقتًا وتبذل المال إلبقاء

وجهها براقًا. ومن حقائق الحياة أن يأتي على الوجه وقتًا يعاني من الكبر والتجاعيد. وهناك العديد من المساحيق

التي تحارب التجاعيد ولكن ال تستطيع أن تحل مشكلة ترهل الجلد. والعديد من

النساء تلجئن إلى العمليات التجميلية لشد الوجه والتي قد تكون مكلفة جدًا.

قد تنجح بعض عمليات شد الوجه في تحسين الشكل إن كانت متقنة ولكن تبقى عضالت الوجه مرتخية. كما يحتاج

الجسم الى التمارين الرياضية وتخفيف الوزن فعضالت الوجهه كذلك يحتاج لتلك

التمارين الرياضية وهي أقل إيالمًا من أساليب اخرى. وكلما تقدمنا بالعمر فإن عضالت الوجه تتراخى ولهذا السبب يبدأ

الجلد بالتراخي ايضًا. وهناك بعض التمارين الرياضية والتي يمكنها أن تعكس مفعول هذا التراخي. هذه التمارين

تأخذ بعض الدقائق من الوقت ويمكننا القيام بها يوميًا ونحن ننتظر اإلشارة في

الشارع او خالل مشاهدة التلفاز او عندما نجلس امام المرآة ونحن نضع المساحيق

التجميلة في الصباح. وهذه بعض التمارين المأخوذة من صفحة األنترنت:

تمارين العينين: يبدأ التمرين وأنت جالسة بشكل مستقيم وعينين مغلقتين.

إبدئي برفع حاجبيك الى األعلى في حين تشدين اجفن العينين الى األسفل.

حافظي على هذا الشد وأنت َتعدين للخمسة ومن ثم ارخي وجهك وارتاحي واعدي هذا التمرين خمس مرات متتالية.

تمارين الخدود: قومي بإبتسامة بسيطة مع ابقاء شفتيك مغلقتين. اسحبي خديك

الى الداخل بإتجاة األسنان وحافظي على هذا الشكل وعدي الى العشرة

ثم ارتخي واعيدي التمرين عشر مرات متتالية.

تمارين الجبين: اجلسي بشكل مستقيم وشدي حاجبيك الى األسفل بإتجاه عيناك

وفي نفس الوقت جعدي انفك الى األعلى مع رفع فتحات األنف. حافظي على

هذا الشكل وعدي الى العشرة وارخي واعدي نفس التمرين خمس مرات.

في البداية ستشعرين بأن هذه التمارين غريبة ومتعبة ولكن مع الوقت ستتعودين وتدركين بأن هذه التمارين تساعدك على رشاقت وجهك وتصبحين

خبيرة في هذه التمارين والتي ستحافظ على وجه صغير السن وناظر.

من المستحسن أن تأخذي لنفسك صورة قبل البدء بالتمارين وصور أخرى على

فترات متفاوتة لكي تقارنيها وتري التغيرات الحاصلة على فترات زمنية بعد

القيام بتمارين الوجه.

وفي وقت قصير ستشعرين بأن وجهك اصبح انعم ونشط مقارنة بالفترة السابقة

قبل التمارين. وسينظر وجهك بسبب دخول كميات اكبر من األكسجين اليه والتخلص من تلك التراخيات في الوجه

وسيبدو وجهك ناصعًا وأكثر شبوبيةبدون الحاجة الى العميات الجراحية او األدوية

وستعيدي وجهك الى عشرة الى خمسة عشرة سنة سابقة.

Summer Activities

one might think we barely are enjoying the gorgeous spring weather and natural beauty surrounding this season to start thinking about summer. well, with one quarter to go before the kids are out of school and at home 24/7 summer activities are an issue. The sooner parents resolve this issue the better. First, what activities are out there? what activities would my child enjoy and at the same time benefit him? Finally, what activities would cause minimal stress both on parents and child in terms of money and transportation?

The summer season offers many activities that in the other seasons are more difficult to enjoy, such as water sports. Many cities offer swimming classes for young children at a very reasonable price. Parents may check out the Parks and Recreation Department of their city for their schedule of classes. Furthermore, for older kids diving and competitive swimming are also offered and what a great way to get kids away from the t.v. and reap the health benefits of a wonderful sport.

Another great way to spend the summer around the water is fishing. Fishing is a loved sport by both parents and children because both can take part in it. Ron Brooks, expert on fishing believes, “Fishing teaches kids an entire set of values. Aside from the outdoors and nature, kids can learn what life is all about. They can learn what it means to be able to feed people. For catch and release they can learn conservation. For something to do when they get “bored”, the challenge of catching a fish can keep them out of potential trouble brought about by boredom.”

Plan a fishing trip to the nearby lake or when you plan the summer camping trip for the family take advantage and spend long lazy afternoons by the lakeside. speaking of camping there are many camps with a focus on a variety of interests available in the summer. Children of all age groups enjoy making new friendships, horseback riding, swimming, archery, and much more going to camps. For more information check out

Now, if you prefer the indoors over outdoor activities learning a musical instrument might be the artistic outlet for you. For example, learning to play the guitar is always “awesome” to most youngsters. However, parents should bear in mind that this activity requires more financial output on the parent’s part. if you are going to play a guitar owning a guitar is important. Next, is finding an instructor to give beginning guitar lessons. The rest is left on the shoulders on the student because practice makes perfect after all.

in addition to all the above activities look into all the activities offered by the local libraries and community centers such as computer building skills, arts and crafts, dancing, karate, and so forth.

قد يعتقد البعض بأن الصيف ما زال بعيدًأ عنا حتى نبدأ بالتفكير في التخطيط له

ونحن في اوج فصل الربيع الجميل. ولكننا على بعد فصل واحد فقط قبل أن ينتهي

ولألطفال من العمراألكبر توجد رياضة الغطس ومسابقات السباحة التي توفر

فرصة للمنافسة الصحية لهم بعيدًا عن التلفاز ولها فوائد صحية كبيرة.

كما أن رياضة صيد السمك هي اسلوب آخر لقضاء الوقت في الرياضات المائية والتي يمكن لألهل مشاركة ابنائهم

بها وتكون نشاطًا عائليًا جمياًل. يقول ران وهو كاتب امريكي "بأن رياضة صيد السمك تعلم األبناء مجموعة من القيم عدا عن كونها رياضة خارجية،

ألن األبناء يمكنهم أن يتعلموا اساليب الحياة العامة. على سبيل المثال تعلم أن

يطعموا آخرين وكذلك الحديث مع اآلخرين عند كل رمية صنارة لتنمية المهارات

اإلجتماعية لديهم. وهكذا يبقى األبناء بعيد عن المخاطر التي قد

أكثر متعة ايضًا. ولكن النتائج تعتمد على اإلهتمام من الطفل وكذلك التدريب

الدائم ايضًا.

Graduation is a milestone for both graduate and parent. The graduate has put so many hours in learning for the past so many years and that accomplishment is truly his/her success. on the parent’s role they have gone through much struggle and worry with their son/daughter for their education and now it is time to celebrate for both and look to the future.

whether your son/daughter has graduated from middle school, high school or college a graduation party will need time to plan and in order to do it correctly you must do it at least a couple months prior to the event. so, it would be a good idea to write out what you want from your party and start graduation party planning with the location and date of the party. An option you may want to consider is talk to other parents and especially your graduate’s friends and not have conflicting parties or have a combined party.

The most ideal for the location of the party would be a community center or hall that has a prep area and tables and chairs. in the past couple of years that i have attended graduation parties held at community centers or halls i’ve noticed this outlet saves an immense amount of cleaning on the host’s part, not to mention you can invite pretty much everyone on your list without the worry of space. when the location is secured then catering, entertainment, and decorations can be tended to.

Keep in mind that caters will be busy and to choose the caterer quickly. if middle-eastern is your choice then choose a variety of dishes. Guests will delight at a buffet style serving table of lamb and rice, a saucy chicken dish, kafta, salads-such as taboli and fatush, hummos, and of course, desserts such kanafa, namura,

baklava, and cake. Remember to keep the food warm using chafers. Drinks can be put in those large plastic or steel like barrels with ice.

once the venue and food is done the decoration and entertainment must be addressed. التخرج هو يوم مهم لكل من الخريج واألهم معًا. ولقد قضى الخريج وقتًا

طوياًل في الدراسة لكي يصل الى هذه النقطة من حياته او حياتها. بالنسبة

لألهل فهم قضو وقتًا طوياًل ومرهقًا من اجل الوصول بهم الى مستوى التعليم

الذي يرجوه واآلن حان الوقت لإلحتفال بهذا النجاح والنظر الى المستقبل.

بغض النظر عما إذا كان اإلبن او البنت قد تخرجوا من الثانوية العامة او الكلية او الجامعة فأن التحضير للتخرج يأخد وقتًأ

طوياًل يقد يستغرق مدة شهرين. ومن المفيد أن تبدأ بكتابة أألهداف

المرجوة من حفلة التخرج والبدء بتحديد مكان وزمان الحفلة ايضًا.

المكان األنسب لمثل هذه الحفالت هو القاعات في األماكن السكنية

community المشتركة والمعروفة بـcenters والتي تحتوي على طاوالت وكراسي ضمن هذه القاعات. ولقد الحظت في السنوات الماضية وفي

حفالت التخرج التي حضرتها بأن مسؤلي القاعت يوفرون الكثير من الوقت وخاصة في التحضير والتنظيف

على القائمين على الحفلة وهذا ما يعطي وقتًا للمنظمين للتركيز على

الحفلة نفسها بداًل من األمور الثانوية هذا عدا انك يمكن ان تدعو جميع من

على قائمتك من اصدقاء.

NANCY ennabe is no stranger

when it comes to a hectic and rigorous environment. Being the middle child of 5 kids, Nancy has been figuring out how to thrive and succeed from day one. A Jordanian American, Nancy has been educated with the elite at Cambridge university as she took her business savvy and entrepreneur like personality to a whole other level working as an accountant and managing two major firms in southern California. involved with groups such as the Network of Arab American Professionals, and a volunteer for the counselor of Honduras, Nancy ennabe is emerging as one of the century’s leading advocate for the Arab community.

Yet beneath the corporate driven woman, Nancy finds her true calling by assisting children around the world in need of aid. During her course as an undergraduate student, ennabe volunteered her spare time as a math tutor in low income schools in her area. she provided her superior skills in the field of mathematics to children who were struggling and found certain concepts difficult to comprehend.

“i believe that adults lose the ability to dream, not because they have grown older, but because they have become jaded from their experiences. i wanted children to know that although they will face hardships it is important that they dream and work hard to achieve

their dream,” stated ennabe.

ennabe’s efforts to make a change in this world continue to grow on

a daily basis. The night after her birthday in 2007, ennabe’s cousin, Andrew, was involved in a fatal car accident. Although his life was taken, Nancy made sure his legacy would live on. ennabe helped create the Andrew ennabe Foundation that was founded by Christina and Faiez ennabe in 2007, with the mission of helping kids across the world in need. The Andrew ennabe Foundation

currently involved in helping a young Palestinian girl who

needs her leg to be amputated. with the help of Dr. samir Taleel, a member of the uClA medical staff, The Andrew ennabe Foundation and Dr. Taleel are applying their most valiant efforts in saving the young child from such a horrific ordeal.

Being the pioneer within the Arab community that she is, Nancy is attempting to unify Arabs across

the nation and show the world the love, sincerity, and warmth that they have to provide. Nancy realized this is not going to be an over night success, rather a mission that will require much effort and time to become successful. “i realized that our community would not improve unless i and others stepped forward to help. i also knew that

it would not be enough to do it one day a year but that i would have to help on a continuous basis to see results. i know that i have the capacity to do great things and i hope that others will leverage their capacity so that together we can make a change.”

نانسي عنابي العمل من اجل جيل عربي قوي

تقضي نانسي عنابي وقتها في جو من األرهاق والقسوة. وكونها احدى خمسة

أخوة كان عليها أن تثبت نفسها منذ البداية. نانسي ذات األصول األردنية تلقت تعليمها بين

األفضل في جامعة كابريدج وتلقت دراساتها ومزجتها بشخصيتها المبادرة والعملية لتقود

شركة محاسبة وتشرف على شركتين اخرتين في جنوب كاليفورنيا. وتنخرط نانسي في

العمل التطوعي مع عدة منظمات مثل ناب وفي القنصلية الهنداروسية وهي من اكثر الدعاة من

اجل الجالية العربية األمريكية.

وتوجد خلف الواجه العملية هذه شخصية رقيقة محبة لألطفال وتقدم لهم المساعدة والعون

الدائمين. وخالل دراستها الجامعية قدمت نانسي وقتها لمساعدة طالب في مدارس محلية في مادة الحساب. وقامت باستخدام موهبتها في

مادة الحساب لوضع أساليب مبتكرة لمساعدة الطالب بحل المسائل الحسابية المعقدة.

تقول نانسي "أعتقد بأن الكبار فقدوا القدرة على الحلم وليس ألنهم سئموا من خبرتهم. واريد أن يتعلم األطفال بأن يعملوا لتحقيق احالمهم وإن واجهوا الصعوبات لتحقيقها" .

وتواصل نانسي محاوالتها لتقدم الجديد للعالم

ولكن في عام 2007 وفي ليلة عيد ميالدها واجه نانسي اختبارًا صعبًا عندما فقدت ابن

عمها اندرو في حادث سيارة ولكن تمكنت نانسي من تجاوز هذه الحادثة وجعلت منها سببًا إلبقاء اسم ابن عمها وقامت بمساعدة

السيدة كريسينا والسيد فايز والدا اندرو بتأسيس مؤسسة تحمل اسهه وحلمه لمساعدة

األطفال حول العالم. وتقوم مؤسسة عنابي حاليًا بمساعدة طفلة فلسطينية تحتاج الى بتر

ساقها بمساعدة الدكتور سمير طليل والعمل معًا بمساعدة الطفلة في تجاوز محنتها بأقل

ضرر ممكن.

وكون نانسي رائدة في عملها من اجل الجالية العربية فهي تقوم بمحاولة توحيد العرب من

اجل نشر صورة تدل على عطاء هذه الجالية في عدة مجاالت. وتدرك نانسي بأن النجاح الذي ترجوه لن يتحقق بليلة وضحاها وتقول "لقد

استوعبت بأن الجالية لن تتطور حتى ُتقدم هي وغيرها على المساعدة. وأن المساعدة هذه ال

تكفي يوم في السنة ولكن بشكل متواصل حتى ارى نتائج عملي. واعلم بأن لدي القدرة

على العمل وأن لدى آخرين القدرة ايضًا والتي يجب عليهم اضهارها حتى نقوم سويًا بالتغير

المالئم لنا جيمعًا".

it is so exciting and exhilarating when a couple gets engaged. when planning a wedding reception make sure you and your future spouse keep those feelings because it could be overwhelming and stressful tending to every detail of the wedding reception.

The first on the list of to do things is to set the date because even when the bride is looking for her dress they will want to know the date. it is more cost effective if the date is set on a week day and in some locations having the wedding reception on a sunday costs less than a saturday. Also, the time of year makes a big difference. in the winter months wedding receptions are less expensive than in the spring or summer months.

After the date has been set the budget needs to set and do not forgot to include all the essentials for the reception such as clothes, invitations, flowers, photography, videography, favors, cake, and other costs such as a band or disc jockey. of course, do not forget the reception hall.

searching for a hall you must have in mind the number of guests you wish to invite to the joyous occasion. since most halls charge by the head count and the size of the room depends also depends on the number of guests it is better to overestimate than underestimate the guest list.

Finding the perfect reception hall depends on that individual couple. Most importantly, look for an establishment that is clean, affordable and has a good reputation. one way to find a reception hall to your liking is by asking other couples and find out their recommendations. Make a short list of halls that are an options for you and make an appointment to meet with a representative from each. each venue might offer different packages. Many will include a room for the bride to prepare, food, wedding cake, stage for dancing. Take a through tour of the reception facilities and you usually get a feeling if you like it and make sure that it is well lit, clean, and cheerful. when you find the perfect hall you will be required to put a down payment, which it is a percentage of the perceived final bill.

The other components of the party can be chosen after the hall has been secured. The search for musicians, disc jockeys, florists, and photographers also takes time and effort to choose. Remember to choose professionals according

to their talent, expertise, and commitment to your event. You must meet with all wedding professional beforehand.

من اوائل األمور التي يجب التحضير لها هي فستان الزفاف ألن الكثير من نوفيتات

الفساتين تطلب ان يكون يوم الزفاف محددًا مسبقًا حتى يتسنى لهم التحضير المسبق.

وسيكون حجز قاعة الزفاف خالل ايام األسبوع او يوم األحد اقل تكلفة من يوم السبت. وكذلك فإن الحجز في الربيع يكون أقل

تكلفة من الحجز في الصيف لكثرة األعراس في هذا الموسم.

وبعد تحديد يوم الزفاف فيمكن اآلن تحضير قوائم األحتياجات وتكلفتها مثل المالبس

وبطاقات الدعوة وبوكيهات الورد والتصوير والفيديو والكعكة والمطبقيات للضيوف

والفرقة الغنائية او الـ DJ باإلضافة الى تكلفة القاعة طبعًا.

عندما تبحثون عن قاعة للزفاف فيجب تحديد عدد المدعويين مسبقًا لهذه المناسبة

السعيدة. وبما أن معظم القاعات تسعر حسب عدد الحضور فإن من األفضل المبالغة

when traveling most of the expense goes to your lodgings, therefore, cutting that cost is a burden off the budget. if possible choose a vacation destination where a close friend or relative resides so that your family can stay with them. if not, rent a private house or condo instead of individual hotel rooms. This will also allow the family a longer summer vacation because your dollar will stretch more using this option.

use the internet to cut cost on tourist destinations. Check out the official websites and many offer promotional discounted coupons to more than one site in the same city.

Next, when making airline reservations it is wiser to travel during the week to qualify for special discounted fares. The cost of tickets is much higher from Thursday to Monday because that is when most people travel. You will enjoy the trip much more because the airport and plane will be less crowded. in addition, to save more money make your own reservations rather than going through a travel agency. some websites will offer more discounts if you book airline tickets and rental car with them.

other tips to keep in mind when traveling are to rent a fuel-efficient vehicle to take on a road trip. it will cost more getting

from point A to point B using a taxi than renting a car, most of the time. it also will give you more freedom to visit more places without the stress of adding cost to your already limited budget. Besides saving on transportation costs you can save on your dining by buying groceries while on vacation instead of always eating out. eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner at restaurants can add up. when you are searching for lodgings find a place with a basic kitchen and a grocery store nearby that way your family can at least have breakfast and maybe lunch and snack at your lodgings. Remember planning a summer vacation is stress free if done ahead of time and you can save a lot of money.

بالرغم أن هذه السنة صعبة اقتصاديًا ولكن الصيف لن يكون ممتعًا بدون اجازة صيفية مع العائلة.

والجميع يحتاج للراحة بعد عناء يوم طويل. فاإلجازة تعطي صاحبها راحة نفسية وجسدية لطالما تطلع

اليها.

في البداية الخطوة االولى يجب أن تكون الجلوس مع العائلة إلختيار الوجهة المناسبة للسفر. ولتحديد ذلك فيجب أن يراعى عدد افراد العائلة

واعمارهم ليكون المكان المتوجه اليه مناسبًا للجميع. ,وإن كانت وجهتكم هي لبلد خارج

الواليات المتحدة فاختاروا بلدًا تكون قيمة العملة بها رخيصة بحيث تستفيدوا من الفرق بالعملة.

اختاروا مكانًا ستصبح قيمة عدة مئات من الدوالرت باآلالف في ذلك البلد. وبعدها حددوا المبلغ الذي

تودوا صرفه وقيموا مصاريف األقامة واألكل والترفية ايضًا.

طريق األنترنت بدل التوجه الى مكتب سفريات.

ومن األمور التي يجب القيام بها عند استئجار سيارة للتنقل هي أن تختار سيارة ذات استهالك

الجالية العربية تبتكر في عملها من اجل غزة

Rallies, dinners, concerts, and hookahs were forms of action taken by the pro-peace community in southern California after the latest brutal israeli incursion into Gaza that left over 1,300 people dead and over 5000 injured.

‘Get Down 4 Gaza’ was a small fund raiser that attracted over 300 at Juanita’s restaurant in los Angeles raised over $1,700 to help the victims of war crimes in Gaza. The event, which took place on January 10 after a mass march and rally, was organized by spoken word artists and activist Mark Gonzales who spent a few months in the west Bank in 2003. it brought together hip hop and spoken-word artists and DJ’s who told the story of Palestine to a crowd that reflected the diverse population of southern California. Gonzales expressed his satisfaction with this event, which was well-attended by an ethnically-diverse audience. He has been working to building bridges between communities for years to raise awareness about various local and global causes with an intense focus on the plight of the Palestinians.

His call for justice world wide is apparent in a piece titled “letter to our loved ones,” which he performed at ‘Get Down 4 Gaza’:

we do what we have to, to survive so our children will know what it means to be alive like Algiers part two, the battle for Beirut and when we’re finally through we’ll take Mexico too Algiers part two, the battle for Beirut Kosovo, Compton, and Mexico too Algiers part two, the battle for Beirut Haiti, Harlem, and Mexico too Algiers part two, the battle for Beirut Brooklyn, Jerusalem, and Mexico too

Performers also included omar offendum, Nizar “Ragtop” wattad, skim, DJ suprema, Jade Ross, Gina Rene and others.

The following day islamic Relief, a world wide humanitarian relief organization, held its fund raising dinner that inspired the over 1000 attendees to raise over $800,000.

in addition, the Muslim Public Affairs Council held a concert that raised over $10,000, which included a performance by the Multi-ethnic star orchestra led by Maestro Nabil Azzam.

Another simple, yet original fundraising strategy brought 3 hookah lounges in

orange County together to donate proceeds of a single day’s sales to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund’s efforts in

Gaza. Anaheim’s Hidden Café and Fusion Café, and Fullerton’s Twilight Hookah lounge raised $4000. This effort caught the attention of local media outlets such as Garden Grove’s channel

3 and the orange County Register for its focus on the humanitarian situation regardless of one’s point of view on israel’s month-long assault.

مظاهرات وحفالت واراجيل هي بعض األنشطة التي قامت بها الجالية العربية ومناصرين

للقضية الفلسطينية من محبي السالم بعد الحرب اإلسرائيلية البربرية على غزة والتي خلفت اكثر

من 1300 شهيد وأكثر من 5000 جريح.

Get Down 4 Gaza كان عنوان حملة تبرعات خيرية والتي حضرها اكثر من 300 شخص

وجمعت ما يزيد عن 1700$ لمساعدة ضحايا غزة. المناسبة التي اقيمت بعد يوم العاشر من يناير بعد مظاهرة اقيمت في نفس اليوم.

النشاط نظم من قبل الفنان الناشط مارك غونزالز الذي قضى عدة اشهر في الضفة العربية عام 2003. النشاط جمع فنانون من

مختلف انواع الموسيقى الشبابية السائدة ليروا قصة فلسطين وبحضور جمع غفير من

خلفيات عرقية مختلفة من جنوب كاليفورنيا وهذا ما عبر عنه غونزالز خالل النشاط. وغنزالز

يعمل ومنذ فترة طويلة على بناء عالقات الثقة بين مجموعات عرقية مختلفة وخاصة من اجل

القضية الفلسطينية.

وعمله يبدو واضحًا من خالل عمله الذي قدمه بعنوان "رسالة لألحبائي" والتي

عرضها خالل هذا النشاط.

ومن الذين قدموا عروضهم في هذا النشاط عمر افندم ونزار واتد وسكيم

ودي جي سبريما وجاد روز و جينا ريني وآخرين.

و في اليوم التالي نطزت منظمة إسالميك ريليف عشاء خيري حضره الف

شخص وجمع ما يزيد عن $800,000. ونظمت منطمة ايباك اإلسالمية حفل

جمعت فيه ما يفوق الـ $10,000 والتي تضمنت فقرة لإلوركسترا ستار

بقيادة المستو نبيل عزام.

ومن النشاطات الخيرية المبتكرة نظمت ثالث مقاهي لألراجيل وهي ثيدن

كافيه وفيوجين كافيه وفلوريتين تويليت هوكا الونج حملة خيرية

وقامت بالتبرع بريع ليلة من دخلها الى منظمة اطفال فلسطين الخيرية وقاموا

بجمع ما يزيد عن 4000$ ألطفال فلسطين. والقت هذه النشاطات اهتمامًا من العديد من

محطات اإلعالم المحلية التي غطت العديد من تلك النشاطات في نشراتها اليومية وبسبب توجهها اإلنساني وبغض النظر عن المواقف

السياسية من الحرب على غزة.

los ANGeles - A delegation of Palestinian-Americans visited the consulates of Bolivia and Turkey, on March 2, 2009, to thank their governments and people for their support of the people of Gaza, Palestine.

The delegation first visited the Consulate of Bolivia, where they met with Consul General Marco Antonio Cuba Marino. They then visited the Consulate of Turkey and met with Consul General R. Hakan Tekin. The delegates expressed their appreciation to the governments and people of both countries for their support of the Palestinians in Gaza and their condemnation of israel for its war against Gaza. The Consul Generals assured the delegation that they would convey their visit and message to their governments. At the end of the meeting, the delegation presented each Consul General with a plaque.

The well-designed heavy glass plaques presented to both Consul Generals read as follows:

“with great admiration, the Palestinian community in California extends it’s appreciation to the people and the government of Bolivia and Turkey for their support of the Palestinian people and justice throughout the world.” each plaque accordingly included the Palestinian, Bolivian and Turkish flags.

Adel Barakat, a retired businessman and

former president of the Arab American Press Guild (AAPG), came up with the idea to form this deligation to express their appreciation to Bolivia and Turkey. The delegation included: Fatimeh Atieh, president of the AAPG and publisher of el-enteshar Newspaper and her

husband sarwat Hikal; Haitham Aranki, businessman and community activist; Nidal Barakat, real estate manager and community activist;

and Joseph R. Haiek, publisher of the Arab American Affairs magazine since 1972, and founder-president of the Arab American Historical Foundation.

“This is the least we can do to express our appreciation to the governments of Bolivia,Turkey and Venezuela for their opposing position about the israeli war and destruction of Gaza, Palestine,” concluded Mr. Adel Barakat.

لوس انجليس - قام وفد من الجالية الفلسطينية بزيارة للقنصليتين البوليفية والتركية يوم الثاني

من مارس الماضي. وأتت هذه الزيارة لشكر كال الدولتين على مواقفهما من الحرب على

غزة بفلسطين المحتلة.

الوفد بدأ جولته بزيارة الى القنصلية البوليفية وقام بمقابلة القنصل ماركو انتونيو كوبا

مارينو وتالها زيارة الى القنصلية التركية وقابلوا القنصل هكان تكين. وعبر الوفد

عن شكره وامتنانه لمواقف كال الدولتين ودعمهم للشعب الفلسطيني ولرفضهم

الحرب اإلسرائيلية على غزة. وأكد كال القنصلين للوفد على نقل الرسالة الى

دولتيهما. وفي نهاية الزيارتان قدم الوفد الدروع للقنصلين للتعبير عن الشكر واإلمتنان.

وكان الدرع المقدم عبارة عن درع من الزجاج الثقيل قدم للقنصلين وكتب عليهم التالي:

"بكل تقدير ُتقدم الجالية الفلسطينية بكاليفورنيا الى الحكومتنين البوليفية والتركية هذا الدرع لدعمهما

للشعب الفلسطيني وقضيته العادلة في جميع العالم." وحمل كل درع العلمين الفلسطيني والبوليفي

والفلسطيني والتركي كذلك.

وكانت فكرة التقدير جائت من السيد عادل بركات رجل ا ألعمال والرئيس السابق لنقابة الصحفيين العرب. وضم

الوفد الذي توجه للقنصليتين كل من السيدة فاطمة عطية رئيسة نقابة الصحفيين العرب وناشرت مجلة اإلنتشار

وزوجها السيد ثروت هيكل ورجل األعمال السيد هيثم عرنكي والسيد نضال بركات تاجر العقارات و السيد

يوسف حايك ناشر مجلة العرب األمريكيين ومؤسس الهيئة العربية األمريكية التاريخية.

"هذا اقل ما نقدمه للحكومتين البوليفية والتركية للوقوف ضد الحرب اإلسرائيلية على غزة وفلسطين" يقول

MesTo & woRouD Performed brilliantly at the benefit event for Gaza

several organizations in southern California felt strongly to support the people of Gaza for their suffering from the war on their land. There were more than thousand attending the event including educators, businessmen & women, civic leaders, human rights advocates and students from many universities.

The event took place at the large and impressive Bovard Auditorium at the university of southern California. The program included many speakers, folklore entertainments and introductions of large number of ViPs.

The second part of the event for which the attendees patiently waited for, was the performance of MesTo. The Multiple ethnic star orchestra, conducted by Maestro Nabil Azzam.

The popular singer woroud was applauded energetically and repeatedly for her popular songs adored by the audience. incidentally both MesTo and woroud had very short notice to rehearse their music and they both did remarkably successful.

موسيقي وغنائي لدعم غزة. وضم النشاط شخصيات اكاديمية
