Principals Report

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members

Welcome back to Term two.

This term will be jammed packed with a variety of events

including the LPS, LNPSSA and Riverina Athletics Carnivals,

LPS, LNPSSA and Regional Cross Country Carnivals, 2016

Year 6 Transition program, Stage 3 excursion to Ballarat,

NAPLAN Testing for Year 3 & 5 Students and a variety of other

events.

ANZAC DAY

Last Monday we had over 100 students and 12 staff

members turn out for the town ANZAC Day Service. The

students who came along to commemorate this important day

were wonderful ambassadors for LPS. I would like to thank all

the parents who took the time to ensure that their child took

part in this important day. Thank you also to Mrs Ramponi and

all of the other staff who attended, for organising the students

on the day.

Upcoming Events

NAPLAN

A reminder for parents with students in Year 3 & 5 that the

upcoming NAPLAN testing regime will take place on Tuesday

10th

, Wednesday 11th

and Thursday 12th

May.

P&C Meeting – Tuesday May 10 – 7pm

The next P&C Meeting will take place at Leeton Public School

in the Primary Staff room on Tuesday May 10th

at 7pm (Winter

times). All interested Parents and community members are

urged to attend.

The Leeton Public School P&C does a wonderful job at our

school. Over the coming weeks we will see the arrival of the

new playground equipment which will replace the fort which

had to be removed in the western playground. To enable such

purchases as this the P&C fundraise throughout the year and

extra helpers are always welcome to come along to the

meetings.

Student Reports

This term we intend to issue Semester One student reports at

the end of Term 2. We will be holding Parent teacher

Interviews early Term 3.

2016 School Contributions

A reminder that if you haven’t already paid the 2016 School

contributions could you please do so in the coming week.

Contributions for 2015 have been set at $ 40 per child, $ 80 for

two children and $15 for additional family members. Our

school relies on these contributions to provide additional

resources and learning programs for our students.

If you have misplaced your note or invoice please contact the

office.

Term 2 Calendar

Also coming home today is a Term 2 Calendar outlining some

of the already planned term 2 events. Whilst no means

exhaustive, it is indicative of activities already planned for this

term. I suggest you place this in a prominent place in your

house and add to it as more activities / events are confirmed.

Please check the front page of the newsletter each week for

further updates and our website where you will also find a

calendar on the home page, along with much more school

information throughout.

A reminder to all parents that a great way to keep up with what

is happening at our wonderful school is through Leeton Public

School’s Facebook page. We have established this page as

another way of providing up to date information regarding

events and happenings at Leeton Public School. Parents and

community members who do not have access to Facebook

This year you will not receive an order envelope. All images will be uploaded to the Cliff Dykes online site for preview & purchase, approx. 2 weeks after photo day.

Not only can you view your child’s photo before placing

an order, you can also select from the range of

backgrounds.

On photo day each child will receive a card with their

unique shoot key. The shoot keys will not be activated

until Friday 13th May. This allows Cliff Dykes

Photography time to match and check all the photos

before uploading commences.

How to order when shoot keys are activated:

Go to our Website

www.cliffdykes.com.au Select “Order Online” and enter your shoot key

Click on your child’s image & select your preferred background

Select your package

If you wish to enter another child’s code, just click “Change Shoot” from the menu

Once you have completed your orders, go to checkout.

All packages ordered placed before Friday 3rd June will be returned to the School.

After this date a P&H fee of $7.95 will be added to the purchase price and the package will be posted

Please note images will only stay online for a further month.

LPS Cross Country

LPS will be holding our annual Cross Country races on the

Friday of Week 3, Friday 13th

May. This is a whole school

event, with students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participating.

The running course is within LPS and LHS grounds.

All students will need to wear their sport uniform on this day.

Students will run in age races for the age they are turning this

year. Students who are 8 and 9 will run in separate races, with

the first three 9 year olds and the first two 8 year olds selected

for the zone Cross Country. (The students are selected this

way as the 8/9 year olds run in a combined race in zone and

Riverina levels.) The first five students in the 10, 11 and 12

year races will be selected for the zone Cross Country in

Narrandera on Friday 3rd

June.

We would greatly appreciate the assistance of any parents

who can ‘man’ a check point. This involves sitting/standing at a

designated point around the schools grounds and watching the

runners jog past. Traditionally the whole race lasts from

9:50am to 11:10 am. If you can assist could you please fill in

the return slip at the end of the newsletter?

THE CRUNCHY CABIN NEWS

Welcome back everyone.

The Crunchy Cabin has an updated menu with just a couple of

extra item for winter.

As usual we have the warm milos for $1.00 served at 9.00

initially and when it really cools off I will sell them at lunch time

(these will have a lid).

Eucalyptus lollies will make a comeback @ 10c each. These

will be limited per child.

The winter menu will see 3 new pies ALL $4.20 ( all Mrs

Macs)
