Laradon’s therapeutic program is designed to assist youth and their families to resolve social, emotional, and behavioral problems so they can return to their home or community. De-escalating crises using non-aversive, least restrictive interventions that teach proactive replacement behaviors Teaching appropriate, clear communications of wants and needs so challenging behaviors aren’t necessary Functional behavior assessment to develop behavioral intervention plans A multidisciplinary team approach to develop an Individualized Child’s Plan that best meets emotional and cognitive functioning level Specialized staff trained in innovative positive behavioral supports and interventions High staff-to-client ratio The goal is for the residents to choose positive or socially acceptable behaviors, which are personally fulfilling and productive.

    The Calabrese Youth Center will be located on Laradon’s 9.2 acre campus, which includes: • Playground with equipment designed for youth with disabilities • Basketball court • Nearby gymnasium with a recreation center The residential building of the Calabrese Youth Center will be equipped with: • 10 individual bedrooms for private space • Kitchen and dining area • Laundry facilities • Living space The Laradon School is a few hundred feet away from these buildings, and the residents of the Calabrese Youth Center will attend classes there when appropriate.
