    Sl 2 sts tog as if to k2 tog, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over k1 2 sts decd

    STRIPE SEQUENCEKnit 2 rows orange, knit 2 rows yellow, work 2 rows in St st with red, knit 4 rows

    turquoise, work 2 rows in St st with orange, knit 2 rows blue, work 4 rows in St st with

    green, rep from * once more 36 rows total.

    HAT

    Back: With straight needles, using orange, cast on 11 sts. Work following Stripe

    Sequence, inc 1 st each side every 6th row 6 times 23 sts. When 36 rows of Stripe

    Sequence have been completed, end on WS. Knit 2 rows yellow, knit 2 rows orange,

    knit 2 rows red. Bind off.

    Right Ear: With straight needles, using blue, cast on 4 sts, with RS facing, pick up and

    k7 sts across first 7 bound-off sts of back, cast on 4 sts 15 sts. Purl 1 row.

    Dec Row 1 (RS): K6, Dec 2, k6 13 sts. Purl 1 row.

    Dec Row 2 (RS): K5, Dec 2, k5 11 sts. Purl 1 row. Continue to dec 2 sts every RS

    row in this manner until 1 st remains. Fasten off.

    Left Ear: With straight needles, using blue, cast on 4 sts, skip 9 sts on bound-off edge

    of back, with RS facing, pick up and k7 sts across last 7 bound-off sts of back, cast on

    4 sts 15 sts. Complete same as right ear. Fold cast-on edges of ears to front and

    overlap 1 st at each end in center. Tack overlapped sts tog.

    Front: With RS facing, using straight needles and orange, pick up and k24 sts along

    right edge of back; pick up and k3 sts in first 3 cast-on sts of right ear, bring ends of

    cast-on edge of ear tog in front and pick up and k1 st through overlapped sts joining

    ear tog in center front; pick up and k3 sts in remaining cast-on edge of right ear, pick

    up and k9 sts across center 9 sts on bound-off edge of back, pick up and k7 sts across

    cast-on edges of left ear in same manner as right ear, pick up and k24 sts along left

    edge of back 71 sts. Knit 1 row. Change to yellow and continue to follow Stripe

    Sequence as follows:

    Establish Pat St: Row 1 (RS): K23, SSK, k9, yo, k1, yo, k9, k2 tog, k to end.

    Row 2 and all WS rows: Work even. Purl the center yo, k1, yo.

    Work even in pat as established until 36 rows of Stripe Sequence have been completed,

    end on WS. Knit 2 rows orange. Change to Red and knit 6 rows. Bind off.

    Ties and Neckband: With straight needles, using red, cast on 48 sts; with RS facing,

    pick up and k24 sts along left side edge of front, 13 sts across cast-on edge of back,then 24 sts along right side edge of front 109 sts. On next row, cast on 48 sts, then

    k to end 157 sts. Knit 4 rows. Bind off.
