It was a busy summer as always in Romania! On the heels of all the camps, visiting teams, and Roma trips, Daniel is seeing another time of expansion.

As you’ll read about in this edition of Byrd’s Eye View, new leaders are going up at the same time that new buildings are going up.

If you were a part of a team this summer, thank you for your work! The impact is real, and is having lasting effects.

  • I was so blessed this year with many teams! I’d love to share with you all the pictures that I have, but the important thing is the work that was done.

I cannot begin to thank all the teams that came for the work they did. I’m so glad for the new work they left me to finish. We saw many who heard the gospel for the first time, many that received gifts, like medicine and clothes; but most important the great news of Jesus Christ.

This was the medical team. They went to 5 villages in 5 days. They saw over 300 patients and gave help to many who needed it. IWC I cannot begin to thank you enough for the work that was done. To my PC and my MC I cannot thank you enough for the planning you did to make this happen. Team, I cannot begin to thank you enough for the seeds that you planted.

But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice .'

For I have not come to call the righteous, but

    sinners. Matthew 9:13

We had many young girls that were coming to our youth programs, so I needed some ladies to come and personally share the gospel with them. God sent a team from Virginia to lead a Bible study just for ladies. Well, God worked in many ways and 8 of these young girls will be baptized with some of our youth in Sarmarsu. God gave us a young lady of peace and 2 of Camarasu’s ladies are working with this lady with a Bible study and a class called “Este Sigur” (“Are you sure?”) a baptism class for them to understand all the fundamentals of being sure you know about God, Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit, the Baptist faith, and why get baptized. One young girl has desired not to be baptized because she is not sure of her salvation. We are thankful she is still coming to the Bible studies led by Casandra and Beti, and our prayers are that she will hear from the Spirit during this time. Thank you to team that came and did something I was unable to do by myself. Also over 85 children were reached with the gospel and played with; and with a team of 7 this was a challenge, but God was their strength.!

Psalm 89:26 He will call out

to me, 'You are my Father, my God,

    the Rock my Savior.’

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” Matthew 9:37

    Teams, teams, teams...

  • And More Teams!

Again, I know I cannot put all the pictures of all the teams that came, but you know who you are and you know that your work did not go unnoticed. I believe there will be many at the throne of Christ one day with you, saying “thank you for giving to the Lord”.

I also want to thank all the translators, drivers, and others who helped with logistics.

    A New Generation

Since its inception in 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has always had one mission—the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20). To fulfill its assigned part of this divine mandate, each SBC entity made special offering appeals to the churches. This method was referred to as the “societal” approach to missions and resulted in severe financial deficits, competition among entities, overlapping pledge campaigns, and frequent emergency appeals which greatly hampered the expanding ministry opportunities God was giving Southern Baptists. Some entities took out loans to cover operating costs until pledges or special offerings were received.

In 1919, the leaders of the SBC proposed the 75 Million Campaign, a five-year pledge campaign that, for the first time, included everything—the missions and ministries of all the state conventions as well as that of the Southern Baptist Convention. Though falling short of its goals, a God-given partnership of missions support was conceived—The Cooperative Program. Since its launch in 1925, the effectiveness of the Cooperative Program has been dependent upon individuals, churches, state conventions, and SBC entities cooperating, working toward a common goal of sharing the gospel with every person on the planet.

    What is the Cooperative

    Program?

faithfulness with the Roma God has given to you. How awesome it was to see some of our former campers serving as leaders now!

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2:2

Also a special thanks to pastor Rubin for allowing me to do another camp with you. Over the years God has blessed us to serve together and I am thankful for your

  • Prayer Requests Please pray for... Pray for two of the teams returning to continue to help this year for the fall and

Christmas. Pray for a very close brother of mine, Ron, who is

in the hospital. He doesn’t have much hope, but his hope is in the Lord.

Pray for my disciples, six that I have, that they will be faithful and I will be faithful to study for each class.

Pray for the fourteen who will be baptized in a month.

Praise Him with me for the laborers He sends to share the “great news” we have in Christ.

    Continue earnestly in prayer...

… being vigilant in it with thanksgiving

    ~Colossians 4:2

Alex, my partner in so many ways, and I were given a property by a young man who had a vision to build a camp for Roma to come and grow. One of my teams came and did amaz-ing work to continue our progress. Funds just seem to be coming from heaven to help. Whenever we think we don’t have enough, God sends people to give, pray, and help build. We are now on the second level, and plans are to open the “Community Center” next years. This place will also host teams, and give us a place to take Roma to teach them, to grow

them, and to love them. To all who helped, (and this was every team) thank you for helping us carry the torch.

    Psalm 89:26

He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my

    God, the Rock my Savior.'
