• Welcome to channel nine news my name is Emily viler and im going to bee talking to u about Isabella bout her book on women on the goldfields

What was it like for women on the goldfields?

• It was hard for both women and men on the goldfields

• It wasn’t very comfortable for them at the diggings

• Many women died from giving birth because they got sick.

What was it like for women on the goldfields

1. . They’d cook bread with butter, jams on top of the butter and bread , they made soap for their family so the women can wash the clothing of her families. Water was very hard to find so the women on the goldfields had to go down to the lake and collect water from the lake so they can drink water because they didn’t have any. Also they needed water so they can stay alive.

How did they dress?

• The women on the goldfields wore long grey dresses.

• Some of the women didn’t like wearing it so they had to put up with the colour and the style of the dress.

• Most women liked wearing the dress because of the colour and the style.

What was their job on the goldfields?

• Many of the women cooked and cleaned and they also washed the clothes.

• Some of the women sang and danced on the goldfields for the diggers.

• A few years later women stayed home with their children while their husbands were at the diggings.

• Women made butter,jams,soaps,and clothes for their family.

What did the people eat on the goldfields?

• People ate:

• damper, bread, flour, water, eggs, dried meat, beans mostly people ate damper and bread and flour.

What did the women do on the goldfields?

• Women on the Goldfields lived in small dirty tents. Then everyday they had to be minding the children, cooking, washing and ironing as well as making bread, butter, jams, soap, candles and mending and making clothes for the family.
