Modern Day Video Gaming

By Dominick CarleoModern Day Video GamingFirst Person Shooter (FPS) GamesFirst person shooters are just that, first person shooting games. The most common FPS series is Call of Duty. In these games you are a soldier walking around killing enemy players or completing objectives such as planting or defusing a bomb.

Mobile GamesThese are pretty obvious. Mobile games are games that you can play wherever you are as long as there is Wi-Fi. You download them off of the App Store that your smartphone or tablet has. What makes these games special (other then you can play them anywhere) is that they use the touch screen that your phone has unlike other games which use a controller with buttons.

RPG/Sandbox/MMORPGs (Role-Playing Games) and sandbox games are generally the same thing. You have a large open map that you can explore and do what ever you want to do. In these games you take the role of the main character solving all the problems in the world from slaying dragons to bringing salt to the store down the street. MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) games are just RPG games but with everyone else playing the game running around the world. You can team up with them too which is nice when you cant beat a boss.

Racing gamesOnce again pretty obvious. In these games you race against either computers or other players where you earn money to upgrade your car. And you just do this over and over.

Hack and Slash GamesHack and Slash games are third person that use buttons for different combat inputs to fight against enemys. For example Shadow of Mordor (Xbox) X is attack, Y is counter, B is special attack and so on and so forth. You earn experience to get upgrades and new powers.

Fighting GamesAnother obvious one. Fighting games are where you put in button combinations that make the fighters do different moves in the attempt to be the first one to deplete their opponents health bar.
