Why did Mexico offer land in Texas to American Settlers?
• Mexico wanted to settle Texas and make is lawful, but no Mexican citizens wanted to settle there so, Mexico convinced Americans to come settle in Texas. The Americans created towns and laws.
What policies did Mexico have towards the settlers of Texas?
The Settlers agreed to become citizens of Mexico
obey its laws and worship in the Roman Catholic Church.

While Santa Anna trained his troops, Texans declared their independence from Mexico on March 2, 1836. They set themselves up as a new nation called the
republic at appointed Sam Huston as commander of
the army
The Alamo
What was the event? Who were the people? What was the outcome?
• People (Out Come) :-There were only 187 Texans in the Alamo.-About 60 men were able to sneak through enemy lines and join the fighters in the Alamo (no large force ever arrived).-Texans and Mexicans were involved in the ALAMO.
Event: -Took place 1835-1836- “Victory or Death” on February 23, 1836, a Texan look out spotted the gleam of sounds in the sunlight, Santa Anna army had arrived.
