Satire
Think of “Satire” as judgment towards others stupidity. For example, lets say a boy named
Billy-bob was walking in the classroom and decided he wanted to prove to the class he could shoot some hoops. He crumbled up a
piece of paper and threw it towards the trash can. And in the process he jumps up
and lands on the desk knocking everything down. Everyone laughed at him while he
walked out the classroom with a detention.
Another way to
think about it...
Lets say Dylan wanted to give a lecture on how Baracka Obama shouldn’t be
president. And he says to his fellow peers that he has a rightful explanation why he may think so. He says, “Baracka Obama
should not be president because he is for slavery.”
The point is Dylan made a stupid mistake. And all his friends laughed at him, they
used satire.
Another example…
*the use of taking two or
more things and comparing
them.
Figurative Language
Sometimes you take yourself out of bed and wonder…that one question buzzing in
your brain, ‘What am I going to eat for breakfast today?”
You get to the fridge and see milk and eggs and cheese, and in the freezer there is waffles. So you have two decisions, one
make an omelet, or two have some waffles. That is Figurative Language of
taking two things such as breakfast food and comparing on which one you may
choose.
