February 14th is a holiday custom celebrated globally showering significant others, family members and loved ones with gifts as a show of their appreciation . Every country has it own unique way in celebrating the tradition. Here’s a look at how some of these countries spend their day.

USA

Although it is not public holiday, it is celebrated widely, classrooms are decorated with hearts, flowers and red roses

Couples exchange gifts such as flowers, chocolate boxes, and roses.

Brazil

Valentines day is a big festive occasion, parties held in the street playing music and samba dancing they also exchange gifts of cards and sweets.

Inda

Valentines day is celebrated mostly by young people, they are given flowers and sweet and tend to eat out on this day.

However some Hindu’s are against the celebration of valentines day as they feel it is not a representation of Indian culture.

Germany

Valentines day was resticted by adults however young people became an important part in the celebration, today it is celebrated by all with the exchange of cards, gifts and chocolates.

They have also introduced pigs into the festivities as they feel it represents luck and lust.

Japan

Valentines day is a day that most appeals to the woman in Japan, the woman shower their males with gifts especially chocolates.

They also celebrate the white day on the 14th of Febuary where men give chocolates to their ladies more expensive than they received on valentines day.
