Dear Student: We welcome your interest as a prospective Molloy College transfer student. Since approximately one-half of our overall student population is transfer students, our admissions staff is sensitive to your educational needs and goals. Transfer applicants should arrange to have transcripts of all prior college work sent to the Admissions Office. Your transcripts will be evaluated to determine the number of transferable credits, and advanced standing will be granted for all appropriate completed coursework. Generally, courses completed with a minimum grade of C at accredited institutions are transferable, not exceeding 64 credits from two-year colleges and 98 credits from four-year institutions. An official credit evaluation will accompany your acceptance letter. At any time during the application process, you may schedule an interview appointment with an admissions counselor to arrange for an unofficial credit review. Financial assistance is available for transfer applicants. This assistance could include money from both federal and state programs, as well as institutional aid. Transfer scholarships are available for students transferring into all majors. These scholarships are for full-time transfer students who have completed at least 30 credits of full-time coursework at a previous college. The scholarships range in amounts from $1,500.00 to $3,000.00 depending upon the degree of excellence of the applicant's academic record. All applicants must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); the Title IV code # is 002775. Full time students should also file the Express TAP application (ETA), which you will receive, from New York State after you file the FAFSA; the TAP code is 0500. Students who are transferring mid-year (i.e. for the spring semester) or Fall applicants who have attended a prior summer session are required to have a Financial Aid Transcript sent from their previous college, even if they did not receive financial aid. Molloy College encourages intellectual excellence, critical thinking and a life-long commitment to learning. Students are given the opportunity to exercise their leadership abilities, contribute their special talents, utilize their initiative, and expand their horizons through the many activities and special programs available to them. Molloy's low student-faculty ratio promotes close interaction and a personalized classroom learning experience. Our goal is to facilitate a smooth transfer process. The Admissions Office welcomes the opportunity to meet with you at one of our campus events, open houses or a personal interview. Please contact our office to find out more about visiting the Molloy College campus and we look forward to meeting you in the near future. Sincerely, Marguerite Lane Director of Admissions
