We also need lots of old newspapers to place under the mulch. We are starng this project next Wednesday 31 st October and would appreciate all donaons of newspapers. Please drop them off at the office and I thank you in advance for your support. The Primary students are busy nominang for the House Public Speaking compeon and also for the posion of House Captains for 2013. Nominaons for 2013 School Captains will be called for throughout Week 5 with nominaons closing on Friday 9 th November. As always we have many students who would carry out these roles admirably and only a small number who are voted in but, ….. we are very proud of all students who make the effort to be a worthy candidates and who show great loyalty to our school. Next Monday 29 th October the SRC will be holding a cake stall. The children will be able to buy their yummy treats at lunchme and at recess if not sold out at lunchme. Next Tuesday the K-2 students will all be involved in a special Rugby Union acvies day where each class will have a me to parcipate and learn some skills. The Infants Fun Day will be held next Friday 2 nd November. We love to see families come along and join in as helpers and the children’s cheer squad. I hope to see you there. On Wednesday 31 st October we have our next Kindergarten Orientaon Session being run form 1-2pm. We love to see our 2013 Kindergarten children at these sessions as it gives us opportunies to get to know the children and them us. Bike Safety – We have had a number of parents with serious concerns about bike safety on footpaths before and aſter school. As a staff we are also concerned when we hear of students on bikes and scooters pushing past both adults, children and toddlers and knocking them over. As you will understand the parents cannot always idenfy the children involved so I’m asking all families to talk to their children about safe riding and courtesy to pedestrians and we will keep reinforcing this at school. I’m sure a team effort will make a difference. REPEAT REMINDER - This year Remembrance Day 11/11/2012 will fall on a Sunday. As you are all aware our school parcipates in these services which are organised by the Bungendore War Memorial Commiee. We are hoping that our school can connue its strong representaon in this event and ask our families to consider pung this date in their calendars now. It would be wonderful to have a sea of blue and gold uniforms at the service. REPEAT REMINDER - this year the Presentaon Ceremonies will be held on the same day. Therefore on Thursday 13 th December the K-2 Presentaon Ceremony will commence at 9.30am and the Primary Presentaon will commence at 12.30pm. For those parents who will be aending both ceremonies there will be an intermission me where we will need to change the seng of the hall. During this me you would be most welcome to purchase coffee, drinks and a cake etc from the canteen. Have an enjoyable and safe week. Cheers Ros Roworth

Dear Parents,

We are currently tidying up gardens and mulching in preparation for the summer. We also need lots of old newspapers to place under the mulch. We are starting this project next Wednesday 31st October and would appreciate all donations of newspapers. Please drop them off at the office and I thank you in advance for your support.

The Primary students are busy nominating for the House Public Speaking competition and also for the position of House Captains for 2013. Uniform Shop News

The Uniform shop will be open this Friday 26th

October from 2.45 to 3.45pm.

During Term 4 the Uniform shop will be open every Friday afternoon. Orders can still be placed via the front office.

SRC Cake Stall The students at BPS sponsor a child through World Vision. This year our child is Rupa Akter who is 13 years old and lives in Bangladesh. The SRC have decided to have a cake stall on Monday 29th October (Week 4, Term 4) to raise funds for this sponsorship. We would appreciate cake donations to help us with our fundraising. Could you please bring cupcakes or slices (please list the ingredients used) to Ms Millard or Mrs Howarth’s room on the morning of Monday 29th October. Thank you. SRC and Ms Millard

University of NSW Assessments Results have now been received for the English and Mathematics competitions.

In English: Participating Year 3—6 students were awarded 15 Participations, 7 Credits and 5 Distinctions.

In Maths: Participating Year 3—6 students were awarded 19 Participations, 7 Credits and 1 Distinction.

Students were presented with their certificates at recent Primary assemblies. Congratulations to everyone on your fantastic efforts and wonderful results! Mrs Hodder.

Child Protection Education — 2012 All students from Stages 3, 2 and Early Stage 1 will be implementing the Department of School Educations’ Child Protection Units in Term 4.

The activities are age and stage appropriate and work on an odd/even system so that the information is not duplicated year to year. These lessons are part of our Personal Development Curriculum Area and will take place in normal class time with the class teacher.

If you would like to view the unit contents, they will be available at the front office.

If you do not want your child to participate, please contact your child’s teacher.

BPS Bookfair BPS Library is having an Amazing Bookfair in Week 5!

Father’s Day Stall Thankyou Thankyou to all of the marvellous helpers who assisted with the Father’s Day Stall held in Term 3 – Chris Campbell, Meagan Cooper, Margie Burk, Ingrid Schmaal and Helen Turner. School Swimming Scheme Our school is participating in the 2012 School Swim Scheme at Bungendore Swimming Pool.

This will begin in Week 8, Monday 26th November and continue each day for 2 weeks (10 lessons) finishing at the end of Week 9, Friday 7th November.

The program is aimed at students who have NOT reached a satisfactory standard of water safety and survival skills, and who are UNABLE to swim 25 metres confidently in deep water.

The program targets Year 2 and 3 students but non-swimmers in Year 4 may attend if numbers permit.

The instruction is free; the only cost being entry to the pool. Pool entry is $3.00 per day (i.e. a total of $30.00). Bookings MUST be accompanied by payment, however pool Season Tickets may be used.

Children must be able to attend for the entire two weeks. They will walk to and from the pool with teachers.

Please return permission notes to the FRONT OFFICE with your payment/season ticket number.

Swim and Survive Coming Soon Summer is just around the corner and Sport & Recreation will again be delivering Swim and Survive lessons throughout regional NSW. The program caters for 18mths to 12yrs providing intensive water familiarisation and learn to swim classes, generally held over 8 or 9 consecutive weekdays (during school holidays).
