SUPREME WINDOWS SITE TOUR

Bill Sumner On behalf of the Steering Committee of the Stay

in School Program I would like to say it is a great honour and

privilege to be here today! Thank you to Supreme Windows

for having us here. Over the years our Rotary Club has had a

very special working relationship with Supreme Windows and

the hope is that we continue to work together to make the

SISP a very special program for young people who have as-

pirations of achieving at the post secondary level.

We have 66 young people who are or have been involved in

our program. 14 students have graduated – the rest are

working hard at getting there. Special thanks to our Mentors

who work closely with the students to help them achieve their

goals.

We now have a little over $4 million in our fund – and our goal is to get to $4.5 million.

This coming year is a very special time for our program – 2020 will be 20 years involvement and I

know that the golf tournament committee is working hard on a special program. A very special ef-

fort will be made to in-

volve the students (past

and present) in the pro-

cess. The tournament will

be July 23, 2020. The gift

of this picture is present-

ed (and provided by

Gena Rotstein).

Ted Stack presented to

Ann a gift certificate of

$500.00 to use on her

upcoming cruise – that

she purchased at the SIS

golf tournament! She was

so excited!

President Chas said it

was fantastic to be here today to honour Ann and her team. The tours of the plant then com-

menced!

The letter is on the next page for your information. The motion is listed below and will be voted on at our October 10th meeting:

On August 29

Rotary Club. Subsequent to that , the Calgary Stampede has requested that we insert the word, “at”, in the title as follows; The Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park.

From Gena Rotstein: This week starts the Jewish New Year Celebrations. We call them the High Ho-ly Days and are comprised of three major festivals: Rosh Hashanah, the "Head of the Year," Yom Kippur "Day of Atonement" and Sukkoth which is our Harvest Festival. Aside from celebrating by eating, then fasting then eating again... we mark the holiday with apples and honey along with sweets. These are to symbolize the type of year that we wish for everyone.

OCTOBER IS CRCF MONTH

YOUR DONATIONS HELP THOSE IN NEED RIGHT HERE AT HOME What is the Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation (CRCF)?

• It is a place where all Calgary Rotary Clubs can invest their charitable funds and is overseen by a Board representing all participating clubs.

• Each Club receives annual interest on their investment.

• The funds returned to our Club now cover all of our Small Grants and all of the Partners Com-munity Grants and this is growing each year!

Why should I donate?

• The funds you commit to CRCF will remain in our local community in perpetuity.

• All decisions regarding the dispersal of funds are made by our own members whom we know and trust.

• Through your generosity you will help feed those who are hungry, house those who are home-less, help those living with disabilities, those who are sick, and those who just need your sup-port to re-build their lives.

• You will receive a tax receipt.

How are donations recognized?

• All annual donors are listed in the CRCF Annual Club Report regardless of amount contribut-ed. Every dollar makes a difference every year.

• Records of your individual donations will be kept for you.

• You will receive a unique Calgary South Benefactor pin engraved with our beloved Rotary House for cumulative donations as well as a personalized certificate and your name engraved on the CRCF Donor Recognition Board.

How do I make a donation? There are three convenient methods:

1. Cheques must be made payable to “Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation” with a note that it is for “Calgary South”. Tax receipts will be sent from the Foundation.

2. Online donations may be made at www.calgaryrotaryclubsfoundation.ca . Click on “How to Contribute” & then click “Contribute online via Canada Helps”. Tax receipts will be received via email.

3. Fill out the donation card with your credit card information and we will enter your infor-mation for you. You will still receive a tax receipt by email.

Donations may be made by corporations, families and other supporters of the work we do in our own community. The paths were clear with residual snow on

the ground.

Lunch at Annie's Cafe seemed to be the
