Love is a choice. It can be a hard one when the easier way is to do the exact opposite. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 for a picture of perfect love, but notice it doesn’t mention anything about feelings. Instead it’s more like a deliberate choice to want the best for someone else and to honor the dignity of other people. Love is slow to anger and quick to forgive. Love protects, trusts, hopes, and always perseveres. Basically, love is based on our character, not on someone else’s worthiness. Love is the gazillion times each day we choose to do the loving thing, like being patient when you’d rather not or kind even when it means taking a risk…..because it’s been said that “where there is love, there is God also”.
