  • April 12, 2015 - 2nd Sunday of Easter An Evolving Church

Acts 4:32-25 The early Christian community wit-nessed and shared. Psalm 118 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. 1 John 5:1-6 Faith in Christ and love are required of believers. John 20:19-31 Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.

In todays Gospel, the disciples were afraid for their lives. They knew Jesus had been crucified, and they feared the same fate, so they huddled be-hind locked doors. Then, to their wonder, Jesus ap-peared in their midst. His first word to them was Peace. Facing death is terrifying, especially for those who have no hope of resurrec-

tion. We all are going to die. There is no escape. As Christians, we can face death with confidence and without fear. The opening prayer in the Order of Christian Funerals assures us: But for those who believe in your love, death is not the end. Jesus enters the locked room of our fear and brings us peace. -- Dc. Dick Folger Next Weeks Readings Acts 3:13-15, 17-19 Peter proclaims Christ as ful-filling Gods promises to Israel. Psalm 4 Lord, let your face shine on us. 1 John 2:1-5a Those who believe keep Jesus com-mandments. Luke 24:35-48 Jesus final appearance to his disci-ples

A Note of Thanks Thank you to those who donated Easter flowers and plants, our dedicated volunteers who decorate the church and everyone who assisted with the Ho-ly Week Masses. Your assistance is most appreci-ated.

The Diocesan Separated & Divorced Healing Ministry Support Group meets every second

and fourth Monday, 7-9 p.m. at the Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre, in Niagara Falls. Topic for April 27th - The Annulment Process. For information call 905-356-4113 or 905-684-0154 or email [email protected]

Building Fund Pledges & Donations Pledge cards may be placed in a sealed envelope clearly addressed to the office and dropped in the weekend collection basket. We ask that you prayerfully consider what sacrifice you can make to support the church. Please take the time to com-plete a card with your intentions. Your pledges as-sist us in our financial planning. A note about donations - Donations made in your Offertory Envelopes are used for the day to day expenses of the church. Please use the Building Fund envelope in your box of envelopes for donations that are to go specifically to the Building Fund for the new church construction.

    Spanish Mass

The 5 p.m. Spanish Mass will resume for the sea-son on April 19th. If you know a farmer who may have some Hispanic Migrant workers, please spread the word. Posters with details are available at the church if you wish to provide one.

    Teaching Mass

Thursday April 16th, 7 p.m. Our Lady of Scapular, NF

Join Fr. Rico Passero for a TEACHING MASS. The Teaching Mass is a tool to

aid Catholics in understanding WHY we do what we do at Mass - our postures, prayers, liturgical guide-lines etc. to help deepen our love for the Mass. Come out for an awesome evening where we will learn about our faith. Bring your questions and bring a friend.

    Remember Your Parish

In Loving Memory Keep your love for your parish alive. Remember your parish in your will and when recommending expressions of sympathy.
