BT Cares News
BT Cares has been busy making a difference in the lives of so many. In February, Beth Tfiloh participated in a book drive to benefit clients and their children at Healthcare for the Homeless, collecting over 100 children’s books. The 2016 B'nei Mitzvah class painted bowls that were donated to "Empty Bowls," Baltimore's annual signature fundraising event to help fight against homelessness and hunger. At the end of February, more than 50 volunteers came together to assemble 675 Mishloach Manot bags that were delivered to Tudor Heights, Weinberg Park, Weinberg Village, Weinberg Woods, Springhouse, Emeritus, Milford Manor, Brightview, and JCS. In addition, the BT Puppeteers performed their Purim puppet show for nursing home residents.
In March, Mercaz hosted a cookie collection and many desserts were donated to Paul's Place for children in their after-school program. The Beth Tfiloh Brotherhood volunteered at Baltimore Station on Good Deeds Day- touring the facility, serving dinner to the residents, and talking with the many men there. Also, as part of Good Deeds Day, the 2016 B'nei Mitzvah class assembled 100 hygiene kits and BT families collected and donated beanie babies, both initiatives
to benefit Healthcare for the Homeless. Our Lower and High School students are working on squares that will be connected to make quilts for the stairwells at HCH. We have also continued to deliver HELP lunches to the shelter at Hannah More.
Thank you to everyone who has been involved with helping to show how much BT Cares! To join the Social Action Committee, please contact Lindsay Gaister: [email protected].

Girls and Science: A Great CombinationBy Hannah C. ‘16
In today’s society, women have become more powerful in the realm of science and math than ever before. As feminist movements spread worldwide, the demand for gender equality within the education world has risen. As a result, educational systems are increasingly focusing on young girls’ and women’s involvement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects. While the societal standards of young women in science and technology has evolved, the role of female students at Beth Tfiloh has progressed accordingly.Read more at bethtfiloh.com/schoolnews.
