Budget Management Report Instructions The Budget Management Report is an OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) report. Although OLAP is an excellent tool for budgeting and forecasting, it’s much different than the standard reporting we are used to. These instructions explain how to run the Budget Management Report. TheBudgetManagementReportisanOLAP(OnlineAnalyticalProcessing)report.AlthoughOLAPisanexcellenttoolforbudgetingandforecasting,it’smuchdifferentthanthestandardreportingweareusedto.TheseinstructionsexplainhowtoruntheBudgetManagementReport.

Click“Launch”tolaunchthereport.
Onceloggedin,youwillbetakentotheMainMenu
Simplyselectoneormorehistoricalfiscalyearsthatyouwouldliketocomparetothecurrentfiscalyear.Youwillnoticetheabsenceofthecurrentfiscalyear.Thisisbecausethereportautomaticallyselectsthisforyou.
Onceyouhavechosenyourhistoricalfiscalyears,chooseoneormoreOrgstodisplay.DependingonwhatlevelofsecurityyouhavetoanOrg,youmayseeoneormanyOrgsinthelistbox.
AfterselectingthehistoricalyearsandtheOrgstodisplay,simplyclickthe“Run”buttontolaunchtheprogram.Thereportshouldreturnresultsquickly,howeverifseveralOrgsareselectedtogether,itwilltakemoretime.
Belowisthedefaultviewofthereportoncethereporthasreturnedresults.
Atthispoint,youcanseetheoverallnumbersforeachOrg.Todrilldowntoseeindividualaccounts,simplyclickthe“Expand”buttontotheleftoftheOrg#toexpand.
ThiswillexpandtheOrgtoshowthenameoftheorg.
IfyouselecttheexpandbuttonnexttotheOrgname,ittakesyoutotheaccounttypes.
Youcancontinuetoexpandanddrilldownthroughtheavailablefields.However,noticethereisa“MasterExpand”buttonlocatedinthemaincolumndescription.
TheMasterExpandbuttonsimplyexpandsallfieldsinitscategory.Forexample,ifIweretochoosemultipleOrgsinmyselectioncriteria,Imightgetresultslikethese:
IfIusethesingleexpandbutton,IcanexpandtheindividualOrgs.
However,ifIusethemasterexpandbutton,itexpandseverythinginthatcategory.
Ifatanypointyouwishtosavetheresultsofyourreport,youcandosobyrightclickinganywhereinthereportresultsandselecting“ExporttoExcel”.ThiswillimporttheexactlookofthereportintoExcelasitisonyourscreen.Belowisanexample:
