Networked and interconnected

The Zrcher Verkehrsverbund (Zurich Transport

Network ZVV) is an umbrella organisation

that covers all operators of public transport

within the canton of Zurich. Networked

mobility is the ZVV magic formula: an inter-

connecting system of trains, trams, buses and

boats that makes it easy to change from one

mode of transport to another when t ravelling

around. A dense route network, the regular

interval timetable and efficient connecting

services all get you to your destination quickly,

safely, punctually and relaxed.

One system, one ticket

The ZVV is not only about uniformly high-quality services, but uniform ticketing as well.

A passenger-friendly zone fare system

means that the same ticket is valid on all

means of public transport.

Payment

Once an amount is displayed, payment can be

made.

6 Under Your choice, you can review the type

and validity of your selected ticket.

7 Under Adapt ticket, you can change the

characteristics of the ticket,

e.g. to Multiple-journey ticket (6 x ).

8 Alternative offer for your ticket.

For example: If the 9 oclock day pass costs

less than the ZVV day pass you have selected,

it will be shown as an alternative.

9 With Severak tickets, you will receive additi-

onal tickets of the selected category.

If you select Add ticket, the selected tickets

will be placed in the shopping basket and you

will pay for them all together at the end of your

transaction.

Does good-value, convenient travel mean

a lot to you? Here is a rundown o the main

options:

NetworkPass is the star among the ZVV

passes. It is the sensible choice even i you

travel just three or our times a week, and

it is especially good value or regular users o

public transport with a penchant or savings.

Find out more on pages 8 to 10.

A day pass costs the same as two single

tickets, but is valid or a ull 24 hours. So

you can use the same day pass to do some

aternoon shopping, then go or an evening at

the cinema, and meet up with riends at a cathe ollowing morning provided all those

journeys are within the same zones. Find out

more on page 14.

Multiple-journey tickets and multiple day

passes are convenient and cost-eective. They

save having to buy a ticket beore the journey,

plus they oer discounts o up to 10% (no

discount on short-distance tickets). Find out

more on pages 15 and 17.

The ZVV 9 OClock Pass provides maximumenjoyment at minimum cost just the ticket

or a day excursion. The pass is valid every-

where in the ZVV network area, Monday to

Friday rom 9 a.m. (until 5 a.m. the ollowing

day) and all day Saturday and Sunday. The ZVV

9 OClock Pass is also available as a

combination o multiple passes (good or 6

validations), and as a monthly or annual pass.

Time and

money-saving tips

Please note the ollowing points when you

make a journey that begins and ends within

the ZVV network area (canton o Zurich plus

14 neighbouring communes, see the zone

map on the ront cover ap):

Buy or validate your ticket beore starting

a journey. The only exception is or regional

and local buses, where you can buy a ticket

on board (rom the driver).

A journey always takes you through one

or more travel zones.

When you buy a ZVV ticket (e.g. by

entering a destination code rom the list onthe automatic ticket machine), it will cover

the appropriate zones. To journey to adjacent

zones without a direct route connecting

them, you will need a ticket that covers the

zones traversed by the detour route.

Zones and validity period are printed on

the tickets.

You can make as many journeys as you

want within the zones shown on your ticket,

using any means o public transport, untilsuch time as the ticket expires. You must

reach the last journey destination no later

than the time o expiry shown on the ticket.

A personal travelcard is issued in your

name and cannot be used by others. The

frst time you buy a travelcard, please

bring ofcial identifcation (with photo) anda passport-sized photograph o yoursel.

1st beneft: A personal annual travelcard is

replaceable, should you lose it.

holders have the option o joining Mobility

Carsharing or just CHF 25.00/190.00 a year

Prior to boarding, please check whether you

are in possession o a valid ticket. Anyone not

in possession o a valid ticket or with only a

partially valid ticket will pay a surcharge along

with the at are amount. The same applies to

those who do not have the additional ZVV

night supplement o CHF 5.00 or night S-Bahn

trains/buses. In all instances, your personal

inormation will be collected and kept on

record.

Ticket control ees

The current ees can be ound at www.zvv.

ch. Repeat oences will result in increased

charges and possible criminal prosecution.

The third and all subsequent oences withintwo years will be automatically reported.

Should you orget your personal ZVV travel-

card, you can present it at a ticket counter

within 10 days together with the ticket control

slip and only have to pay CHF 5.00. This does

not apply to transerable travelcards.

The Track 7 travelcard is only valid on SBB,

THURBO and SOB routes in the ZVV network.

For all other routes, Track 7 cardholders will be

treated as passengers without a valid ticket.

Engaging in the raudulent use o tickets,

aiding and abetting such misuse and giving

incorrect personal inormation are punishable

by heavy fnes (at least CHF 180 per person)

and may lead to criminal prosecution.

Presenting a orged ticket will not only entail

higher charges (o at least CHF 280) but will

also result in criminal proceedings in all

instances.

with Mobility

Public transport gets you to your destination

quickly, comortably, punctually and relaxed.

But occasionally, a car can defnitely be

practical as well. The ZVV Annual Travelcard

with Mobility is the ideal solution or combined

mobility. You can combine your personal ZVV

Annual Travelcard or any number o zones

(NetworkPass, 9 oclock pass, BonusPass)

with Mobility. For CHF 25.00 extra each year,

you have the entire eet o 2,600 vehicles

at your disposal around the clock. There are

435 stations and around 795 cars in the

Car sharing up to 165 hours per yearFor people new to Mobility, or inrequent

ZVV ticket or an SBB bike ticket. A 2nd class

Both options eature discounts or General

Abonnement (GA) and Hal-Fare travelcard

holders and children under 16. Family

For amilies: the Junior travelcard

With the Junior travelcard, children aged 6 to

16 travel ree or a year when accompanied by

their ather and/or mother. Parents must have

valid tickets. The Junior travelcard is valid with

all ZVV tickets and costs CHF 30.00 per child.

Third and subsequent children get it or ree.

For grandparents: the Grandchild travelcard

With the Grandchild travelcard, children aged

6 to 16 travel ree or a year when accompa-

nied by their grandather and/or grandmother.

Grandparents must have valid tickets. The

Grandchild travelcard is valid with all ZVV

tickets and costs CHF 30.00 per child.

For people in groups: the group ticket

Groups o 10 or more people not only get to

travel cheaper with a group ticket, every 10th

The Albis day pass is an especially keen-priced

ticket or excursions and hikes through the

AlbisFelseneggUetliberg region, plus Sihltal

and Reppischtal.

When you buy an Albis day pass rom any

starting point within the ZVV network area,

you have total reedom o movement across

the approach zones, plus the region shown

below. You can also obtain a 24-hour group

Albis day pass.

The Albis day pass covers the region above,

which corresponds to 6 zones (are zone

110 = double zone). Travel within this region

costs the equivalent o just 4 zones, plus any

approach zones (up to a maximum o 8 zones

total).

The key points in brie

The nighttime network provides sae and

reliable mobility by train and bus rom Friday

night into the small hours o Saturday mor-

ning, and again rom Saturday night into the

ollowing Sunday.

Users o the ZVV nighttime network must have

two tickets.

Ticket 1: A valid ticket rom the point o

departure to the destination

Ticket 2: A night supplement o CHF 5.00.

It is available as a single supplement,

as a combination o multiple supplements(CHF 27 or 6 supplements) or as an SMS

(NZ to 988, CHF 5.00/SMS). GA, Hal-Fare

travelcards and other discount cards can-

not be used or the supplement.

The night supplement is valid or ZVV,

A-Welle, FlexTax, OSTWIND, Zug are network,

Schwyz are network, Z-Pass as well as the

ZurichLucerne and SchahausenSingen

night trains.

Note: Conditions o use and validity or tickets

that are currently in circulation can be oundat www.zvv.ch.

Buying tickets

Tickets and night supplements must be

purchased prior to boarding at ticket ma-

chines, ticket counters or by SMS. Important:

Tickets and supplements cannot be purchased

on board the S-Bahn trains and buses within

the city limits o Zurich and Winterthur.

Please note

In the event o a spot check, passengers

unable to produce both tickets will have to pay

a surcharge along with the at are amount

(see page 11).

Instead o ticket 2, holders o a ZKB young,

ZKB student or ZKB start package can

purchase the reduced-price ZKB Nacht-

schwrmer. Either download the ZKB Nacht-

schwrmer app in advance rom the app store

or Google play ree o charge, allowing you to

obtain the ZKB Nachtschwrmer whenever

you need it at no cost. Or send a text message

with the code ZKBNZ to 988 (CHF 0.20/SMS)

prior to each homeward journey.The ZKB Nachtschwrmer will be instantly

displayed as an e-ticket in the app or sent to

your cell phone as a return message. Present

the ZKB Nachtschwrmer along with your valid

ticket and an ofcial identity document to the

ticket inspector upon request.

As during the day, a Track 7 travelcard is

accepted only on nighttime S-Bahn train

The Zurich Transport Network (ZVV), neigh-

bouring public transport networks A-Welle,

Flextax, OSTWIND, Schwyz (including the

March region) and Zug and SBB have joined

together in a single are network or the

residential and economic region o Zurich.

The so-called Z-Pass creates a joint zone are

and a new ticket option or journeys between

the ZVV and a neighbouring public transport

network.

With the timetable change on 9 December

2012, the Z-Pass will also oer individual

tickets in addition to the existing monthly and

annual travelcards.

With this expansion, the advantages o theZ-Pass travelcard network will now be extend-

ed to those making individual journeys. The

key dierence is that tickets are obtained or

the necessary zones instead o or a route rom

A to B. For instance, travellers can thus go

between the ZVV and a neighbouring network

by train, bus, tram and in Zurich even by

boat, making inter-network travel easier, more

convenient and more versatile.

The price is based on the number o selected

zones. The two city zones o Zurich (110)and Winterthur (120) each count as two zones

on account o their higher density o public

transport services compared to elsewhere.

Combining ZVV network and national tickets

For travel beyond the network boundary,

ZVV zone tickets are valid up to the last

timetable-scheduled stop within the

applicable zones.

For example: You want to travel rom Zurich

to St. Gallen and have a ZVV NetworkPass

or are zones 110, 121 and 122. Your InterCity

train stops only at Zurich Airport and in

Winterthur. So, you will need an SBB ticket

rom the airport to St. Gallen because your

ZVV NetworkPass does not cover zone 120

(Winterthur).

City TicketsCity Tickets are available to many Swiss city

destinations. Single and return City Tickets all

include a day pass or public transport in the

destination city. Ask or details at SBB ticket

counters.

Inter-regional travelcards

Special travelcards are available rom certain

localities in the cantons o Appenzell,

St. Gallen and Thurgau into the ZVV network

area. Please enquire at the ticket counter.

A Hal-Fare travelcard brings you reduced

rates on all ZVV tickets, excepting ZVV passes

Allows you to take along as many as 4 children

aged 6 to 16 at an especially low price,

provided you have a Hal-Fare travelcard or

GA. 1-day travelpasses or children are

available rom ticket counters; you will need

to validate one per child.

Track 7

Track 7 travelcards are valid only on SBB,

THURBO and SOB routes within the ZVV

network.
