P r o g r a m m e T h e p r o g r a m m e i s structured in different blocks of work sessions, individual study and group activities.

Classes It is important to note that all our courses have a general base for all groups of participants but that there is also room to tailor make parts of the programmes to the needs of each one. This “tai lor-made” aspect of our programme helps part ic ipants to develop their language learning skills within a familiar context, that is, with emphasis on their own sector or job area. As a general rule, each session involves a quick look at grammar to encourage greater verbal agi l i ty,

implementing tenses and key structures more fluently through a wide variety of dynamic exercises. Vocabulary and typical expressions are built up through focussing on skills for key areas, such as negotiating, meetings, presenting information and giving conferences and seminars. Students are required to prepare two tasks on the course. The first is a business presentation to colleagues on a topic of personal interest to the participants where the sk i l l s pract iced are for example, h i g h l i g h t i n g k e y i n f o r m a t i o n , emphasising main points, summarising and handling questions, to mention but a few. The second task is a practical case

study carried out in pairs where students are to present alternatives and provide solutions to potential problems for example.

Individual study Students will have some time set aside for individual study, review and preparation of the tasks to be performed during each day of the course. This moment is key to students because it allows them to absorb the knowledge acquired during the day.

Group activities The different leisure activities carried out in groups, such as an evening hike in the mountains, the spectacle of show-cooking or the wine and cheese-tasting sessions in the cellar

of the hotel, have the sole purpose of consolidating the social English/Spanish of the participants which is often an obstacle for those used to working in another language. They also offer the opportunity for the participants to increase their cultural and gastronomic knowledge of the local produce of Gran Canaria.
