Preamble
There was a time that we dreamt of a little
house somewhere. After a lot of wandering we
ended in France to realise this dream.
In April 2000 we found a beautiful small house
on a great piece of land near the La Beaume river
and the village of Valgorge in the Ardèche.
We call it Sitinho, a notion we picked up during
our time in Brasil. It means as much as a 'little
house in the country'. Not everybody agrees
with us on that but for us that's it.
We decided to share Sitinho with others as it is
not good for a house not to be occupied and
because we believe that others will also enjoy it
and its surroundings, the village Valgorge, the
valley of La Beaume and all the beauty and
richness of the Ardèche. These thoughts turned
out to be bull’s eye! For more the a decennium
now we rented the house to families, young and
old, with and without children, very active and
less so, sometime with their dog(s) and they all
loved it!
We hope this brochure helps to give you an
insight in all of that and stimulates you to book some time in the Sitinho with us..

Where is the house?
Sitinho is situated Le Vincent, a hamlet, in the valley of La Beaume
river about 20km from Largentière and 2km before Valgorge. Just
below Chastanet, at 450m and so nice and fresh also during the
hottest summer days.
The other interesting spots in the Ardèche can be reached easily.
It's an ideal place for wandering, cycling and those who seek to be away from the hustle and bustle
of modern life!
Ardèche
The department Ardèche is colourful and varied, with its chestnut trees, pine forests, limestone
mountains and extensive volcanic and granite plateaus.
Valgorge
Valgorge, at 560m, half way up the cool de Meyrand (1370m) and some
22km from Largentière. The village has all daily needs: an excellent
supermarket (sometimes English spoken), where you also get your daily
fresh bread and croissants. There also is a bar, a garage and a
hotel/restaurant with a superb kitchen.
The house
In the house you will find
a large living with a
beautiful wood stove, fully
equipped open kitchen,
three bedrooms, bath-
room with toilet, a scullery
with second toilet, a
mezzanine with television corner and a large covered
terrace.
In the living you’ll also find the telephone,
Internet router (wifi) and a cd/cassette player.
View in to the kitchen with modern combi micro wave, gas
cooker, dishwasher, refrigerator, mixer, water boiler,
toaster, etc. In the scullery you will find a large boiler,
washing machine, a second fridge and a freezer.

One of the bedrooms on the ground floor, where you can store your belongings in
the built in cup boards.
The television corner on the
mezzanine is an ideal place to stay
current with the situation elsewhere
and the weather forecast.
You can of course also switch the TV of and then this is
an excellent quiet corner to read a book, for example!.
The Sitinho see from the garden.
The open terrace in front is a good place to be during the
hottest hours of the day or in the evening after sunset. Get
one of the comfy chairs and enjoy!
You make the best meals
on the BBQ!
Impressive views!

La Beaume, the river near Sitinho
The garden in spring seen
from the house.
La Beaume is about 70m away from the house and can be reached easily
via a good passable road with two bridges over ancient riverbeds.
In the summer the river is a small stream and
invites for a swim, to play and to build dams.
A little further up or downstream you will find deeper places that allow diving and more swimming in
June July.
In the autumn La Beaume
turns in to a real mountain river
with wild rapids and cascades.
A selection of things to see and do
Aubenas situated in the centre of the department Ardèche some 40km from the Rhône and high
above the basin of the Ardèche river. It is an old medieval city with a castle from the 12th - 13th
century and a Benedictine chapel that served as a storage place for cereals during the second world
war.
Largentière, beautiful ancient city where they used to produce silver. The counts of Toulouse and
the bishops of Viviers exploited the mines from the 10th until the 15th century.
Gorges d'Ardèche, to wander, cycle, for canoeing, etc. The source of the river is on the Ardèche
plateau. Near Vallon-Pont-d'Arc the impressive gorges, that continue over more then 20km, begin.
Gorges de la Beaume, close to the Sitinho.
Balazuc, a fortified village from the 9th century situated on a rock high above the Ardèche with a
number of magnificent narrow and steep streets, called "les calades".
L'aven d'Orgnac with prehistoric excavations and known as one of the most beautiful caves in
France.
St Michel de Boulogne, ruin of a castle from the 14th - 15th century. You find it in a beautiful
environment some 15km northeast of Aubenas.
Vogüé, one of the most beautiful villages of France. Embedded between high rocks and the
Ardèche river and dominated by the castle of the De Vogüé family..
In the house and on our website you’ll find much more about these and other interesting possibilities,
other activities, bike rides and hiking routes, etc.!

Rent conditions
1. The rented period for the Sitinho starts Saturday afternoon at 15.00 hours and finishes
Saturday morning at 10.00 hours. Upon receipt of a request for reservation the landlord, H.A.P.
Couvreur, will inform you whether the house is available for the requested period. The tenant

Couvreur. As soon as the ING bank confirms the deposit a confirmation will be sent to the tenant
which formalises the booking definitively. The tenant will pay the remainder of the rent and

reservations at short notice both the rent and the warrant will have to be paid immediately.
2. After confirmation by the ING bank that the total rent and the warrant have been paid, the
landlord will send the tenant a Carte Clé. This is to be handed to the concierge upon arrival and is
the proof for her that rent and warrant have been paid.
3. The warrant à 150€ will be refunded to you after your stay in the Sitinho. Cost of extra cleaning
(more than 2 hours at a rate of 15€/hour), electricity usage (only from September up to including
April) and damage to the property by the tenant and/or his/her party will be deducted.
4. The house is not to be occupied by more persons than indicated in the house description and on
the Carte Clé. The landlord has the right to refuse additional people. There are to be no
overnight stays in tents or campers. The landlord will be kept informed about the situation by the
concierge.
5. The tenant can cancel the reservation until 100 days before the start of the rented period. The
date of arrival with the landlord of the cancellation is the measure here. In this case the first
deposit will not be refunded. The tenant remains liable for the full rent when cancellation
happens at a later time.

How to get there?
Via: Paris, Orléans, Bourges and Clermont-Ferrand, in the direction
of Brioude (exit 20 from A75). Leaving Clermont-Ferrand behind you
and driving south on the A75 you take exit 20 and follow the N102 in
the direction of Brioude. After some 35 miles you turn right, taking
the D906 in the direction of Loudes. Follow the D906 through
Loudes until you hit the N88 after some 13 miles and turn right on
to it when you do so. Follow the N88 for about 14miles and close to
Pradelles continue on the N102 (don't follow the N88 in to
Pradelles!).
Continue on the N102 for about 11miles and then, on the col de la
Chevade, turn right, taking the D239 over the col du Pendu. This is a
beautiful area and you may want to go back there to take a walk.
After 7miles you turn left taking the D19 for a little less than a mile,
when you turn right on to the D24 to the col de Meyrand (1370m),
towards Loubaresse and Valgorge. To reach the latter you just stay
on the D24.
You pass through Valgorge and after 2 miles you will see a
large rectangular house directly on the D24 and just
before you will see the steep decent to the Sitinho on
your right hand side. If you pass the camping municipal
(again on the right-hand side) you've gone too far!.
The entrance can be recognised by two 'en pierre' pillars ~1m tall and a post-box on the right hand
side of the D24 (when you're
coming from the west, via
Valgorge).
Note: this is a photograph from the direction east. If you're coming
from Valgorge you are heading in that direction!.
