The GT-Max offers all you need to weave

yourself to the top in your market. It uses

the proven rapier weaving technology of

Picanol’s GamMax, with full electronic

monitoring and control, Sumo main

motor and microprocessor-controlled fill-

ing insertion.

Its huge installed base reflects the

reliability and robustness of the machine.

This weaving machine has been designed

to meet your objective of maximizing

return on investment. It guarantees high

fabric quality, is best in class for mini-

mum energy consumption, creates space

to unleash your talent and optimizes your

precious time.

If you really want to get the most out of your

market, your material, your energy, your

talent and your time, the GT-Max provides

the platform for you to stay ahead. Always.

GUIDED GRIPPER SYSTEM

The light-weight gripper permitshigh speeds at low yarn tension, reducing the number of filling stops. Its small size results in less frictionon the warp yarns.

TUCKERS

The GT-Max can be equipped witha versatile mechanical tucker onboth sides of the fabric. Changingfrom a leno selvedge to tucker orvice versa iseasy and quick, with repeatablesettings.

FREE FLIGHT SYSTEM

The Free Flight system (FF) is specially designedfor weaving delicate fabrics, providing maximumwarp friendliness and filling versatility. The

covered raceboard is the perfect solution forweaving fine filamentwarps as found inupholstery fabrics.

TOP BEAM

A fancy beam can be mountedon top of the loom in modularfashion. The structurecontains a gearbox driven byan SR (switched reluctance)motor and controlled bymeans of a second warptension sensor. The tension

in both sets of warp yarnsis controlled actively by themicro-processor.

QUICK STEP FILLING

PRESENTER

The weft presenter is fully modular, allowingyou to start with e.g. 4-color insertionand to add more channels. The GT-Max isavailable with up to 12-color insertion. Thecolor and weave pattern are controlled bymicroprocessor or jacquard. Finally, the QuickStep modules are interchangeable, and thereare no mechanical drives, so no maintenanceor lubrication is required.

SHEDDING

MOTION

The GT-Max can be

equipped with anelectronically driven jacquard or an electronic, positive dobby motion withleveling, for up to20 harness frames.

RIGID CONSTRUCTION

The GT-Max has two cast iron side frames connected byfour sturdy cross-members. The conjugated cams arebuilt into the side frames to allow a strong beat-up. Thedamping capacities of the cast iron eliminate all vibrations, while maintaining long-term stability. The machine rest onits four feet: no anchor bolts are required.

DOUBLE BACKREST

AND TAKE-UP

The standard double backrest and doubletake–up rollers enable the heaviest styles tobe woven with excellent fabric quality. Thesecond roller is modular and can be removed tomake the machine ready to weave light styles.Another example of how Picanol makes itslooms fit for every market requirement.

ELECTRONIC

SELVEDGE SYSTEM

The unique Electronic Selvedge System (ELSY – patented)

full leno selvedge motions are electrically driven byindividual stepper motors. They are mounted in front ofthe harnesses, so that all the harnesses remain availablefor the fabric pattern. The selvedge crossing and patternare programmed on the microprocessor independently ofthe shed crossing, even while the machine is in operation,so the result of aresetting can bechecked immediately.

ELECTRONIC TAKE-UP

AND LET-OFF

The electronically controlled take-up(ETU) and let-off (ELO) are fitted asstandard on the GT-Max. Both aredriven by SUMO-type motors whichare synchronized by the integratedcontrol box. This arrangementguarantees high quality fabricwithout marks.

SUMO MAIN MOTOR

The oil-cooled Sumo main motor drivesthe weaving machine directly, without beltor clutch and brake. The combination ofthe highly energy-efficient Sumo motorwith the direct drive (patented) of themain shaft and shedding motion resultsin power savings of more than 10% incomparison with conventional clutch andbrake configurations. The energy cost forair conditioning is also reduced as theSumo motor dissipates less heat in theweaving mill.

PICANOL INTEGRATED

CONTROLSThe integrated controls link all features of the loom into oneintegrated unit. The different loom functions are perfectlysynchronized with each other. The new LDEC power boardcommunicates with the take-up and let-off drives throughthe motherboard. The speed of the motor is controlledelectronically, without a frequency converter, thus reducingpower consumption while permitting greater flexibility.

SHORT DRIVE TRAIN

The very short drive train is simple and compact, and the machine is up to full speed right from thevery first pick.

ELECTRONIC TAKE-UP AND LET-OFF

The take-up and let-off are also driven by the highlyenergy-efficient Sumo-type motors. The forcedlubrication in the gearbox keeps the parts cool andreduces the friction tremendously. The advantage islow energy consumption. Excess braking energy inboth drives is recuperated in the main drive. This isonly possible with Picanol’s integrated controls.

SUMO MAIN MOTOR

With the Sumo motor it is possible tocontinuously adapt the machine speedpick by pick (Optispeed) to matchthe strength of the filling yarn. Thiscombination of the Sumo motor withelectronic settings makes it easy toobtain the highest possible industrialspeeds, taking into account the yarnquality, number of harnesses andweaving pattern. It also considerablyreduces the set-up times.

FAST WIDTH CHANGES

All the components to be

moved on the left and on theright are mounted on a singlesupport whose position canbe easily varied.

PREWINDER SWITCH-OFF

The GT-Max has a piezoelectricfilling detector that stopsthe machine in case of afilling break. With its optionalPrewinder Switch-Off (PSO)system, the machine carries onweaving even if a filling breakoccurs on the bobbin creel or

one of the prewinders.

ELECTRONIC SETTING

OF SHED CROSSING

The electronic setting of the closed shed position(AKM) – a unique Picanol feature – allows theweaver to control the aspect and hand of thefabric without even touching the drive train of forinstance the dobby.

AUTOMATIC FULL PICKFINDING

The machine has an automatic full pickfinderdriven by the Sumo main motor. In case ofa broken pick the machine stops and onlythe harness frames are brought in motion –automatically – so as to free the broken pick, without the reed touching the beat-up line.

ERGONOMIC MACHINE

All Picanol machines are tilted slightlyto the front, providing easy access forthe weaver. The push-buttons are withinreach at all times. The shedding motionstands free on the right hand side and isnot obstructed by the package creel andprewinders.

MAXIMUM CONTROL

All the machine functions are controlled by themicroprocessor. Mechanical settings have whereverpossible been replaced with electronic ones. Themicroprocessor records, analyses and stores allthe productiondata. The weavingmachine itself canbe linked to a centralmonitoring systemby a parallel orserial connection.

PICANOL PC SUITE

Picanol PC Suite  is a collection of PC software applications.Picanol Pattern Editor  is used to create new designs onthe PC, for transfer to the weaving machines. Picanol Style

PERFECT LUBRICATION

Lubrication is by means of a centraloil circulation system. Constant andadequate filtering of the oil ensuresperfect lubrication.
