Introduction

•Architects plan and design buildings such as homes, schools, office towers, and other structures.

Nature of Work

• Make designs for buildings, bridges, roads, etc.•Use computer programming to make blueprints and models of structures• Use drawings and make physical models •Use advanced mathematics and physics

7-8 hours a day, 5 days a week

Qualifications Co-ops (internships) for three years during the summer while

getting your degree Count as a summer semester of college 5 year Bachelors Degree and/or an addition of 1-2 years for a

Masters Degree 3 years of supervision under a licensed Architect

Training Architecture programs

architectural design, history, theory, technology, professional practice, math, and science

Must pass a series of professional exams known as the Architect Registration Examination (ARE)

I chose to be an Architect because I like math and physics. I think it will be a fulfilling job to see the structure that I helped make become a reality. Designing buildings, bridges, and schools seam very interesting to me. After researching this career I still want to become an Architect.
