PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
REGARDING THE PLEASANT HARBOR RESORT, JANUARY 6TH, 6:30 PM AT
THE BRINNON SCHOOL
WE WANT TO DEDICATE THIS PAGE TO
THOSE WHO ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE
IN OUR COMMUNITY .
Bill Barnet & Rick Meyer, Editors
Dear Editor,
Through our local food banks, schools and
churches the local World Vision’s Gift-in-
Kind program provides the Brinnon and
Quilcene communities with many items,
such as school supplies, personal items,
cleaning supplies, food bank and senior
meal provisions, clothing, toys and books.
Yearly memberships are necessary to par-
ticipate in this program along with local non
-profit sponsors. This year, both the Emer-
ald Towns Alliance and the Brinnon/
Quilcene Garden Club donated the funds for
two memberships as well as the use of their
non-profit status. The Brinnon Senior Or-
ganization, along with some very generous
Brinnon individuals also donated enough
funds that allowed us to once again pur-
chase a total of 6 membership in this amaz-
ing outreach program. Our GIK team ex-
tends to all our most heartfelt thank-you for
your continued support.

Inquiring Mind Lecture:
Seriously Funny: Humor, Film,
and Philosophy
Can films teach us about philosophy? Is what we feel while watching a film
linked to what we learn? Film holds
tremendous power to shape the
thoughts of audience members. Many types of films exist today, from the
deeply philosophic to the comedic. In
this unique take on philosophy, film and
comedy, Professor Mike
VanQuickenborne shares brief clips from Being John Malkovich, Intolerable
Cruelty and Adaptation to start a
conversation about philosophy and
explore the issues raised by each of these films. Audience members are
certain to leave the presentation with a
renewed interest.
