Bringing Learning to Life You will have read in last week’s Tadworth Times about all of the science linked learning that has been taking
place in school recently. This week we bring you some photos of Year 2 enjoying their sunny day at Bay Pond
in Godstone and Year 1 handling a variety of reptiles as part of their ‘Crocodile Encounters’. JK
STOP PRESS….STOP PRESS...Lots of the children have taken part this week in football tournaments with
other schools in the North Downs Schools’ Partnership. More information to follow next week… EH
Keeping our Community Safe Many parents have come back to us recognising how calmly and effectively our staff managed the situation
that unfolded at the end of the school day on Wednesday. You will have received my e-mail which informed
parents that there had been an a6empted burglary locally and that this had resulted in us being asked by the
police to close our alley, for a period of time, while they carried out their investigations. I understand from
the Epsom and Ewell Beat (Surrey Police) Facebook page that the perpetrator was caught. We are sorry for
any inconvenience that the situation may have caused, however, we must always put the safety of the chil-
dren first. I hope that there is not a repeat of this, nor a more serious incident, but as a school we need to be
prepared for emergency situations. Certain situations could result in us having to effectively ‘lock down’ the
school for a period of time. It is very important for parents to be aware that were this ever to happen at pick
up time then they may not be allowed on site and we would appreciate your support and understanding
were such a situation to ever occur. We will always endeavour to communicate what we can to parents; as
soon as we can. With any incident that happens, parents should also consider carefully what they choose to
say to their children (or within earshot of them) so as to cause minimal distress or worry. Thank you for
your continued support. JK

School Packed Lunches After Half Term We have decided to introduce a school packed lunch option for the second half of the summer term but are anxious that children do
not choose this option without their parents’ knowledge. A selection of sandwiches will be available each day and we will ensure that
children get a sandwich with a filling they like, but they will not be given a daily choice. If your child wishes to opt for a school packed
lunch, and you are happy for them to do so, please complete and return the a6ached slip. Unless we have a slip in school your child
will not be allowed to select this option. This option is also available to any children currently having a home packed lunch. The cost is
£2.10 for KS2 and free under the Universal Free School Scheme for KS1. The other options available remain the same, including jacket
potatoes. ✂———————————————————————————————————————————————————— ——————

Peter Holmes’s Footballing Success
Peter in 3C has been playing for Crystal Palace for
the last year and has now been offered a contract
to play in their under nine squad next season.
Having been chosen out of 200 boys to be one of a
squad of 18 players, he has done amazingly well.
Last Saturday, as an official welcome to the club,
the squad were invited to Crystal Palace and
introduced to the fans at half time, which was
featured in the match day programme. The whole
school congratulated Peter in assembly on
Monday.
