Mr. Shahid Afaq is a Commerce Graduate & has a Master’s Degree in Finance. He joined Shriram Chits (Maharashtra) Ltd., as an Executive Trainee in March 2001 and was elevated as Manager of Dombivali branch in June 2001. By sheer stint of his performance, he rose in the ladder of the Organization - Senior Manager in 2003, Divisional Manager (Mumbai Zone) in 2004. When it was proposed to start retail finance business of Shriram City Union Finance Ltd in Maharashtra in the year 2005, due paucity of the personnel to head the same, Mr. Shahid volunteered to take up the responsibility. As Head - Retail Finance of Shriram City Union Finance Ltd., for Maharashtra &

Goa States, Mr. Shahid steered the business successfully by increasing the branch network from single digit to 93 branches by the year 2014. Starting with the net disbursement of Rs. 50 lacs in the year 2005 to over Rs. 100 crores (in HP business) within a decade . This has been a great achievement of Mr.Shahid. From 2005 to 2014 he was been elevated from Asst. General Manager to Asst. Vice President to eventually as Vice President. The most important highlight has been the financing of over 18000 two wheelers in the month of October 2014 and Maharashtra was announced as the Pan India Topper. Enthused by the achievement of Mr.Shahid, the Management of Shriram City Union Finance proposed to use his services in promoting retail business till then untapped States of Uttar Pradesh & Bihar. He accepted the challenge, considering the potential of market in the said States, and moved to Lucknow as the State Head - UP & Bihar in January 2015. Here again, he has showed his business acumen and is on a branch expansion spree with a view to bring these two States at Par or even better than other States where SCUF has a presence. In the short period of a year, in the month of October 2015, Uttar Pradesh emerged as Pan India No. 2 in two wheeler retail finance. This success, without doubt can be entirely attributed to him. Agra, Kanpur & Lucknow branches have consistently achieved 1st /2nd/3rd position Pan India in two wheeler business. Mr.Shahid is presently vigorously exploring the possibilities developing SME business in UP & Bihar. Mr.Shahid’s most important skill has been ‘Man Management’. He is able to gauge the potential of his staff and encouraged them to the fullest in achieving their goals.

Mr.Shahid attributes his success to the unstinted support he has received and has been receiving from Mr.G.M. Jilani, Executive Director. Last but not the least he considers his TEAM as his greatest assets.

A FEW NICE VIEWS OF MR. SHAHID AFAQ:

“I TRUST MY TEAM AND TRY TO GIVE THEM RESPONSIBILITY /KNOWLEDGE / ACCOUNTABILITY AND OWNERSHIP TO THE FULLEST, WELL WITHIN THE NORMS OF THE COMPANY. FEELING OF OWNERSHIP AMONG EMPLOYEES CREATES WONDERS, WHICH PRODUCES EXCELLENT RESULTS. A SATISFIED EMPLOYEE AND A SATISFIED CUSTOMER BUILDS THE ORGANISATION”. SHAHID AFAQ - STATE HEAD - UP & BIHAR

MR. SHAHID AFAQ - A VIEW FROM MY EYES:

HE HAS BEEN THE ARCHITECT OF RETAIL FINANCE BUSINESS IN MAHARASHTRA & GOA. HIS DEEP KNOWLEDGE OF BUSINESS, HIS INSTINCT TO DWELL DEEP - TO FIND THE ROOT CAUSE OF ANY PROBLEMS/DEFICIENCIES HAS NO PAR-ALLELS. HE IS A GREAT TEAM LEADER. I HEARTILY CONGRATULATE HIM AND HIS TEAM FOR UNPARALLED ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR AND WISH HIM ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE. G.M. JILANI - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Worth a try – nothing to lose.

Breathing Therapy

Our nose has a left and a right side; we should normally use both side to breathe but most of the times we use only one side. The right side represents the sun, left side represents the moon. If you have a headache, try to close your right nose and use your left nose to breathe. In about 5 Mins, your headache will vanish.

If you feel tired, just do the reverse, close your left nose and breathe through your right nose. After a while, you will feel your mind and body refreshed. Have you noticed the moment you wake up, in the morning if you are breathing through your left nose you will feel tired, close your left nose and use your right nose for breathing, you will get refreshed quickly. This can be taught to kids, but it is more effective for adults.

Why walk is necessary ?

Ever wondered what happens to your body when you start

walking?

Here's a minute-by -minute rundown of the amazing chain re-

action walking and exercise does to your body, it's truly

amazing!

Minutes 1 to 5

Your first few steps trigger the release of

energy-producing chemicals in your cells

to fuel your walk. Your heart rate revs-up

from about 70 to 100 beats per minute (bpm), boosting blood-flow and warming

muscles.

Any stiffness subsides as joints release lubricating fluid to help you move more eas-

ily. As you get moving, your body burns 5 calories per minute, compared with only

1 per minute at rest. Your body needs more fuel and starts pulling from its

carbohydrates and fat stores.

Minutes 6 to 10

Heartbeat increases and you're burning up to 6 calories a minute as you pick up the pace. A slight rise

in blood pressure is countered by the release of chemicals that expand blood vessels, bringing more

blood and oxygen to working muscles.

Minutes 11 to 20

Your body temperature keeps rising, and you start to perspire as blood vessels near the skin expand to

release heat. As your walk becomes brisker, you'll be burning up to 7 calories a minute and breathing

harder. Hormones such as epinephrine and glucagon rise to release fuel to the muscles.

Minutes 21 to 45

Feeling invigorated, you start to relax as your body releases tension, thanks in part to a dose of feel-

good chemicals such as endorphins in your brain. As more fat is burned, insulin (which helps store fat)

drops--excellent news for anyone battling excess weight or diabetes.

Minutes 46 to 60

Your muscles may feel fatigued as carbohydrates stores are reduced. As you cool

down, your heart rate decreases and your breathing slows. You'll be burning fewer

calories but more than you were before you started. Your calorie burn will remain

elevated for up to 1 hour.

All this happens without a single conscious thought from us - the human body is

amazing.

Stay blessed –Stayfit Walk / Exercise
