As a major trading and service center for a scattered population of several hundred thousand people, the Olean area offers facilities and conveniences of a quality and variety one would usually expect to find only in a much larger city.

Olean is located in Southwestern New York near the Pennsylvania border. The largest city in Cattaraugus County, Olean has a population of 14,300. The population of the Olean area, which comprises the city and surrounding towns of Olean, Allegany, Hinsdale, Cuba and Portville, is over 32,000. The city serves as the major trading and employment center for people living within a 50 mile radius.

The city is home to a diverse community of manufacturing and service industries that employs over 14,000 people from Olean and other communities in New York and Pennsylvania. Leading manufactured items for world and domestic markets include machinery, electric transformers, electronic parts, cutlery, ceramics, epoxy, and concrete products. The timber industry still produces significant quantities of hardwoods for a variety of markets.

The retail community includes the Olean Center Mall which houses The Bon-Ton and JCPenney, and the downtown retail area is lined with a variety of unique shops. The West end retail area features such large volume chain retailers as Kmart, Wal-Mart, BJ’s Wholesale, Aldi’s, Staples, Home Depot, Grossman’s Bargain Outlet, and Valu Home Center.

In short, Olean, in its unique geographic location, definitely enjoys and appreciates its position as the retail and commercial hub of Southwestern New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Bradford is located in Northwestern Pennsylvania near the New York state border. Bradford covers the county of McKean with a population of over 45,000 and parts of Elk County with a population of over 35,000. Bradford is 50 miles from Jamestown, N.Y.; 80 miles from Buffalo, N.Y.; 96 miles from Erie, Pa. and 179 miles from Pittsburgh, Pa.

The city and surrounding areas boast a long history of crude oil production and refining. American Refining Group, Minard Run Oil Co., the oldest independent family owned oil company in the United States, are but a few of the names associated with the community. Bradford has been home to the Zippo® Lighter since its inception in 1932. The academic community is served by the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford offering a well rounded liberal art academia. The health and well being of the community is served by Bradford Regional Medical Center.

The retail community is a diverse one, offering a wide range of locally owned and operated establishments, while at the same time is served by several national chains.

Aside from the manufacturing, health, educational and retail industries Bradford is 10 minutes from the Allegheny National Forest.

With the continuation of its roots in oil production, timber and wood products, and the experience of the health and human service sectors Bradford remains the center of commerce, manufacturing and education for Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Naturally beautiful, unique, and on the rise, the city of Salamanca is truly one of a kind. Salamanca is the only city in the United States, east of the Mississippi River, that is located on an Indian Reservation.

Always with a reverence for the past, Salamanca also holds a lofty vision for the future.

Today, high quality gaming and entertainment are a part of Salamanca’s culture through the Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel and Seneca Gaming and Entertainment. These attractions are supported by many lodging options, including a Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites and the Hotel Westgate.

Salamanca’s booming gaming business has drawn interest from other lodging and other entertainment prospects. Salamanca is on its way to becoming a hot spot for tourism and leisure.

But away from the bright lights of the casino lies Salamanca’s natural and historic charm. The city lies on the Allegheny River and is adjacent to the Allegany State Park. Salamanca is also home to the Seneca Iroquois National Museum and the Salamanca Rail Museum.

The city offers many eateries, from fast food, fine dining and more. Salamanca has a selection of retail locations, and is a popular destination for duty-free products.

Situated directly off of Interstate 86, the major cities of Buffalo and Rochester are quickly within reach from Salamanca. Jamestown is under 40 minutes away, while the resort ski town of Ellicottville, and the shopping hubs of olean and Bradford, Pa. are all conveniently located within 20 minutes of Salamanca.

Salamanca has a proud business history, and is home to several manufacturers that produce metal work, printing equipment, housewares and furnishing, and hand tools.

Salamanca could easily rest on it’s proud history, but this is a city with big plans in place for tomorrow.
