The highlight of the opening ceremonies was the introduction of the junior rookie division,” the league’s new president, Terry Zinck, said. “The players were awesome and the parents really enjoyed watching the little ones hit the ball and run the bases. Everyone is looking forward to growth.” The association is on the right track, but everyone contacted in the head office stressed the need for more volunteers to help teach sportsmanship and the value of working together to the youth in all of Georgina’s minor sports. More than 200 Georgina youth and family members were treated to a day of sunshine, laughter and great baseball

by volunteers at the Georgina Minor Baseball Association as the growing baseball league celebrated its opening

day at Keswick’s West Park diamonds.

Saturday was full of excitement for everyone, but there is one particular addition to this year’s season that has

everyone talking.

The highlight of the opening ceremonies was the introduction of the junior rookie division,” the league’s new

president, Terry Zinck, said. “The players were awesome and the parents really enjoyed watching the little ones hit

the ball and run the bases. This new division is a great addition to our program.”

Zinck is also excited about this year’s season, because the current executive has taken some bold steps to

promote baseball within Georgina, he added.

“The town is establishing a new diamond at the Civic Centre and taking better care of the existing diamonds.

Everyone is looking forward to growth.”

The association is on the right track, but everyone contacted in the head office stressed the need for more

volunteers to help teach sportsmanship and the value of working together to the youth in all of Georgina’s minor

sports.
