Both the manufacture and disposal ofPVC ( Polyvinyl Chloride) is harmful to ourenvironment as it gives off hydrogenchlorine vapours. For this reason,there is a worldwide trend to limitPVC use whenever possible.Polypropylene, which contains nochlorine, is an environmentallyacceptable, stable film which is inertand possess all thequalities requiredfor superior, longlasting protection.

Polypropylene has a high gloss and clarity likePVC, however due to the inert nature ofpolypropylene, its medium and long termprotection is far superior. PVC ages,particularly under hot storage conditions, withappearance and protection diminishing overtime. Polypropylene is the clear choice inbookcovering material.

Years of experience and knowledge has goneinto the research and development ofpolypropylene book coveringproducts. These products are easy touse and have a variety of applicationsfor the maximum protection ofhardcover and paperback books,magazines and journals.

All bookcovering material made withPolyvinyl Chloride (PVC) contains aplasticiser. This is a substance that makesPVC soft so that it can be used forbookcovering. Without it PVC is a hardpolymer (eg. the PVC drainpipes used inbuilding homes). Unfortunately, with time,this plasticiser migrates to the surface andleaks out causing stickiness, yellowing,cracking and drying out. Shrinkage and abreakdown of adhesive also occurs.
