The YSU Publishing house has initiated a number of book exhibitions and donations in the framework of “Book Fair 2014” project dedicated to the 95th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Yerevan State University. The project is realized by the support of the Galuste Gulbenkian Foundation.

List of Universities and Libraries hosted the Exhibitions:

n Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute,

n Vanadzor State University,

n Gavar State University,

n Ijevan branch of YSU,

n Goris State University,

n Artsakh State University

n V.Sargsyan Military Institute

n Khanperyants Aviation Institute

n Monte Melkonyan College

n Matenadaran of Holy Etchmiadzin

n Yerevan Central Library after Av. Isahakyan (with 5 branches)

About 120 books (300 items) published by YSU Publishing House under the sponsorship of the Gulbenkian Foundation were presented during each Exhibition at various institutions (exhibitions dates: May 16 -30, 2014). According to the preliminary achieved consent from Gulbenkian Foundation the presented books were donated to mentioned institutions and remained in their libraries.

The main objectives of the initiative:

n to support regional universities and libraries in obtaining new publications,

n to motivate young people reading books and

n to promote new publications.

The activities can be divided into 3 main parts:

n exhibitions in regional universities

n exhibitions in high education institutions and libraries located in Yerevan,

n “YSU Open-Air Book Fair” in front of YSU main building

The pavilion of YSU Publishing House presented books (monographs, dictionaries, textbooks, educational manuals and guides) published in the recent years with its efforts and the support of the Galust Gulbenkian Foundation. Among these publications there are valuable works of Nicholas Adonts, Hrachya Atcharyan, Hakob Manandyan, Manuk Abeghyan, Hrachik Simonyan, as well as works by the outstanding Armenian writers.

“It is a very interesting initiative, a really wonderful idea. For me this is a double celebration, as I am YSU alumnus. I should note we participate with great pleasure, always ready to participate in the joint upcoming events. We present fiction literature, as I think this is more interesting for the HEI. We also have a special children’s literature for parents. I wish YSU to continue its mission, in addition to training specialists to inspire students with patriotic feelings, which are the best values for becoming a citizen.”
