Pastor’s Words
How do you find ways to put
the Word of God in Jesus Christ
and the Word of God revealed in
the Bible in front of you on a regular
basis? Pr. Kristi discusses the
Bible as a treasure on page 2.
Bond
Trinity’s purpose:
Connect with God
and with each other.
Share God’s good
He has made everything beautiful in its time.

doors of Trinity Lutheran.
They Survived!
The youth and their chaperones
survived the Jamestown-Area
Youth Lock-Out and learned a few
lessons along the way. Read
about it on page 7.

Treasures of the Bible Jesus said to them,
“Therefore every scribe
who has been trained for
the kingdom of heaven is like
the master of a household
who brings out of his
treasure what is new and
what is old.” Matthew 13:52
“ Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my
path.” Psalm 119:105
She read her Bible daily. It was the habit of a
lifetime of faithfulness. She had moved far beyond
the ten best known passages of the Bible and worked
her way through every verse of the Bible again and
again. Certainly, there were passages she liked better
than others, but she didn’t shy away from passages
that were confusing. That’s how we got into a conversation
about Second Chronicles one afternoon when I came
to visit in her home.
He made a point to come up to me after worship one
Sunday to say how much he appreciated the daily
devotions that arrived in his email during April.
They’re a quick read, but they give me something to
think about during the day.
Where are the devotion books? It’s a common question
we hear at Trinity in March, June, September and
December. Christ in Our Home, is a quarterly
devotion book that presents a daily Bible verse for
the coming week, a brief reflection, and a prayer.
People read a page a day during the week in preparation
for worship on Sunday or Monday. As the quarter
ends, we hear from people who appreciate this daily
connection they have to God’s Word and who want
to be sure they have their copy before the next quarter
begins.
The Bible is filled with treasures. Jesus told parables to
all who would listen. Then he said, “Therefore every
scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven
is like the master of a household who brings out of his
treasure what is new and what is old.” [Matthew
13:52]
It is a way of telling us that the Bible itself is a treasure.
The more we read and re-read it, the more we find
treasures that are old and treasures that are new.
The psalms tell us, “Thy word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.” [Psalm 119:105] God’s
Word shines its light on the way that we walk.
How do you find ways to put the Word of God in
Jesus Christ and the Word of God revealed in the
Bible in front of you on a regular basis? Is it a daily
devotional book? An email devotion? A well-read
Bible that sits beside your favorite chair?
May the treasures of the Bible connect you with
God and inspire you to share God’s good news of
Jesus with all.
In Peace,
Pastor Kristi Weber

Sharing Warmth
Trinity Quilters sent 90 Mission Quilts to
Lutheran World Relief last month for a total of
115 sent since fall. According to LWR, recipients
will use the quilts to shield against cold and rain
and for warm bedding. Their versatility also
makes them useful as simple tents, floor cov-
erings or to wrap a baby to carry on its mother’s
back.
Quilting at Trinity is finished for the season but
will resume again in fall.
Pastoral Assistant Opportunity
Trinity is seeking applications for the Pastoral
Assistant position.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Visiting people who are hospitalized, living in
care centers, or are unable to attend worship for
health or mobility reasons.
• Visiting with people who are grieving the
death of a loved one.
• Developing rapport with senior adults.
This position will be approximately eight hours
per week with a variable schedule based on the
needs of the people being visited and the schedule of
the Pastoral Assistant.
Please speak with Pastor Kristi Weber if you are
interested in this position. A printed position
description is available in the main office.

On Saturday, May 20, Youth from Trinity, St. John’s and Atonement Lutheran Churches met to learn what it would be like to be homeless and hungry in North Dakota. For 24 hours, the youth and their adult chaperones fasted and took part in learning activities designed to teach them about the area’s homeless population. Then they slept outside in cardboard boxes...in the cold and rain. Everyone made it until the early morning hours with Luca and Jonas Flann sticking it out the longest. Everyone agreed, the weather made the experience more realistic. The fast was broken with communion Sunday morning. Breakfast was served between services where the youth shared their experiences with congregation members.

Thank you for your generous support of
Trinity’s Connect Share Grow Campaign. Trinity responded generously to the two goals for the Connect
Share Grow campaign. Your generosity has placed Trinity in a strong
position to restructure Trinity’s finances to direct more resources
toward our core mission. As of May 17, $209,963 has been pledged
or given toward the $200,000 goal of funds to be used for capital
restructuring. (See page 9 for details about the June 25th congregational
meeting.)
Generous response to the first goal allows the congregation to turn
our attention to the second goal over the next three years. As of
May 17, $327,750 has been pledged toward our second goal. As
these gifts are received, individual projects and commitments to
recently enhanced ministries will be fulfilled with the funds that are
available. Ten percent of what is received will be given to outreach
ministries.
Regardless of the size of the gift, we seek the participation of every household in the congregation.
If you have not yet made a pledge or gift to Connect Share Grow, there are two ways you can participate.
1) Return a Response Form by June 30, 2017, to indicate your support for a commitment above and
beyond your gifts to Trinity’s general fund. You may fulfill your commitment over the next three
years. (Example: a gift of $600 may be given as $200 per year for three years or $15 per month
from July 2017 through October 2020.)
2) Give as and when you are able during the next three years. Please indicate that your gift is for
the campaign by writing Connect Share Grow on the memo line of your check or by giving online in
the section that directs funds to Connect Share Grow. Go to www.trinityjamestown.com then click the
Online Giving button.
Thank you for your generosity that enhances Trinity’s mission and ministry. Your participation continues to
inspire others to give from the gifts they too have been given. When we all come together as the
body of Christ, God is honored and lives are changed in ways that move far beyond what was ever
expected.
Sunday, April 30 was a day to celebrate the
Connect Share Grow campaign, and what a
celebration it was with singing, dancing and
cupcakes!
But most importantly,
there was an abun-
dance of connecting,
sharing and growing in
the Fellowhip Hall. Sixteen
of Trinity’s community
partners were on hand to
show how they use the
connect share grow
