TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY INORDINARYTIME

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON (Ps IGSMm

I call upon you, God, for you wiii answer me; bend your ear and hear my prayer. Guard me as the pupil of your eye; hide me in the shade of your wings.

Priest: In the name of the Father and of*the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

People: Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the * love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.And also with you.

PENITENTIAL RITEThe priest addresses the people in these or rmrnhrw ords.

My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred

mysteries, let us call to mind our sins.A pause for silent reflection follows.Lord Jesus, you have shown us the way to the Father:

Lord, have mercy.Lord, have mercy.

Lord Jesus, you have given us the consolation of the truth:

Christ, have mercy.Christ, have mercy.Lord Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd, leading us into everlasting life:Lord, have mercy.Lord, have mercy.

May almighty God have mercy on us,forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.Amen

GLORIA

Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father,

we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world:

have mercy on us;you are seated at the right hand of the Father;

receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One,you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High,

Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

OPENING PRAYERLet us pray

(for the gift of simplicity and joy in our service of God and man)

Almighty and ever-living God, our source of power and inspiration, give us strength and joy in serving you as followers of Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.Amen.

THE LITURGY OF THE W ORD

FIRST READING (174-131

Amalek came and fought with Israel at .Rephidim. And Moses said to Joshua, 'Choose for us men, and go out, fight with Amalek; tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand. So

Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands grew weary; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat upon it, and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua mowed down Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

RESPONSOR1AL PSALM (Pb 120 ft. v. 2)

R. Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.

1 . | lift up my eyes to the mountains: from where shall come my help?My help shall come from the Lord who made heaven and earth. (R-)2. May he never allow you to stumble!Let him sleep not, your guard. No, he sleeps not nor slumbers,Israel's guard. (RJ3. The Lord is your guard and your shade; at your right side he stands.By day the sun shall not smite you nor the moon in the night. W J4. The Lord will guard you from evil, he will guard your soul. The Lord will guard your going and coming both now and for ever.

SECOND READING (3:14-4:2}A reading from the second letter of St Paul to TimothyContinue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching.

This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

ACCLAMA TiON (Acts 16:14}Alleluia, alleluia!

Open our neart, O Lord, to accept the words of your Son

Alleluia!GOSPEL (18:1-8!

The Lord be with you.And also with you.A reading from the holy Gospel

according to Luke. Glory to youf L&sd.Jesus told his disciples a parable, to the erfect that they ought always to pray and not !o ^ heart. He said, In a certain city there w ar s judge who neither feared God nor regarded man; and there was a widow in that city kept coming to him and saying, 'Vindicate mo against my adversary." For a while he refused; but afterward he said to "Though I neither fear God nor regard men, yet because this widow bothers me, \ will vindicate her, or she will wear me out by her continual com ing."' And the Lord said, Hacr what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God vindicate his eiect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over thetTuJ-l&tf you, he will vindicate them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man comes.will he find faith on earth?'

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you. Lord Jesus Christ,

Let us proclaim the mystery of faith: “ When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, Lord Jesus, until you come in glory. ^
