Photographs show some of the activities and the entries at the Christmas Party 2015. The Club Challenge was won by Leo, with a beautiful scroll saw Jewellery Box. Well done Leo.

Australia Day 2016 G'day All Now that Christmas and New Year are over, it is time to look at the next big item on the Woodwork Club calen-dar, Australia Day. This year the club will again be setting up it‘s usual site for demonstrations and sales to the public. Remember all those sale items you made during the year, they can be sold to the public on Australia Day at Glenbrook on 26th January 2016. Bear in mind, on sale items, the Club will take 15% commission to help de-fray costs. We will also be giving demonstrations of our woodworking prowess, so come if you can to help on the day, even if only for an hour or two, every little bit helps. We need helpers to sell raffle tickets, sell sales items, and do demonstrations, or just talk to people and pro-mote the club. So there is a job for everyone no matter what your skill level. Please contact me as soon as possible and let me know your availability, so we can make sure we have enough helpers for the day. Ray.

Next Meeting The next meeting will be on Tuesday January 19th from 7.00PM, then the following Saturday January 23rd. Doug Cox will again do tool sharpening, a skill we can always do with a refresher, and the following month,, February, Ian Griffiths will be demonstrating how to make ’lock’ mitre joints. He tells me he has a fancy jig that makes it simple!

What’s on

Club Challenge for 2016. The committee discussed once again conducting the challenge. Exactly what format it will take is an ongoing discussion, and members will be advised in plenty of time.

Outings The committee again discussed outings for the year, but a point, and a very valid one, is if we plan an event, then it will need to have a commitment from all members to attend. When we hire the bus from Penrith Council, it costs money, and we cannot afford to run at a loss, as has hap-pened in the past. Some venue’s are under discussion. The last page of this Newsletter has a calendar which depict all planned events and meetings for 2016. These are highlighted in different colours to make it easier to read. It is a single page document which can be printed and pinned on anything that will support it!

Tool’s In the October 2015 issue ago of Fine Cut, some tool’s were pictured and offered for sale. They are still available, so please contact me for any information on email; [email protected] The owner is anxious to dispose of them and no reasonable offer will be refused. (The spoke-shave is not there!)
