BLUE ABYSS Year 4
Geography
In our geography lessons we will learn to:
1. That the Tropic of Cancer is 23.4 degrees north of the equator and Tropic of
Capricorn is 23.4 degrees south of the equator.
2. To identify the world’s oceans and seas. Identify their position in relation to
the equator, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and the Arctic and Antarctic
Circles
3. Locate the Great Barrier Reef using maps and satellite images.
4. Use a range of geographical source materials to find out about a number of
environmental issues linked to the oceans, such as overfishing, oil spills,
coastal erosion, tourism and pollution.
ART and DESIGN
On our art and design we will learn to:
1. Complete observational drawings by sketching sea creatures
using a variety of tomes with different grades of pencils and begin
to record movement
2. Know the British artist Turner and look at his seascape:
Breaking Against the Wind and use this to create own painting
using: hot/cold colours, seascapes- wet on wet and wet on dry
3. Create a sea themed batik using cool and warm colours
